on the first run it actually did find something and repaired it. I then rebooted and scanned it once again though and then once again, and on the following scans nothing was found. the problem is still there though (I've kept the log of the first scan if it's helpful by any means).
Yes, please attach it to your next post. Either within a code box or if it is too big a .zip file.
Did you edit your post?
I've never pasted that link over there, I'm seeing that EasyDriver Pro webpage for the first time in my life. I always download drivers from either Lenovo site or the hardware manufacturer's. and I have no idea how did I end with typing "basing" instead of "basic"
Okay, no harm, no foul.
It may have been a 7F server problem, I noticed yesterday when I tried to log-in my browsers were telling me that 7F could not be found.
I just found this:

I did not check to see if your machine or Lenovo has an update assistant, where you can enter your machine's numbers, and Lenovo's site will serve up a custom list of available drivers specifically for your machine.
nope, an update assisstant is only available for ThinkPad series I guess. when downloading online, there is a window to type some info about a machine, but it somehow can't use my serial number, only model name.
Did you try checking this site
Drivers and software - IdeaPad Z580 Notebook while using your flavor of Internet Explorer (IE)? I noticed Lenovo's Auto-Detect feature will only work if you are using IE.

I moved this Quote down for my train of thought, to me this is acting like a virus or interference from an anti-malware product, and/or its leftovers:
I did it. when I run the installer it's supposed to:
1. remove the current driver
2. reboot the machine
3. install the new driver
4. reboot the machine.
what it actually does so far is:
1. remove the current driver
2. reboot the machine
3. install the new driver
4. reboot the machine
5. make the thing I described in post #11
And, this one up:
also: there's no sound in movies.
I have been reading up on your 70057 error, and it seems that it can be caused by many different OS problems, some we have covered, some we have not. Please check the source link in this Quote. Go over the steps in the Answer, especially:
Verify that you have removed all other real-time antimalware products that were ever installed on your PC, including free/trial products that were installed when the PC was purchased (Norton, Symantec, McAfee, TM, AVG, Malwarebytes (paid), etc).
Then, use the cleanup tools here: List of anti-malware program cleanup/uninstall tools If yours is not listed, go to the manufacturer and get it.

I mention this because of this link:
IdeaPad Z580 Laptop Specs | lenovo.com It shows that McAfee should have been shipped with your 580.
If you did remove McAfee, without the aid of the MCPR tool, please use the
MCPR tool Here, it is a direct download or if that makes you uncomfortable you can search for it, sites like
Majorgeeks offer it.
For whatever reason, McAfee can't find their own removal tool in the first link to them on the MA list.
You haven't mention as to what anti-malware product(s) you do use, it would help if you would use
MSE only,
at least to test!
Remember if you have anything other than MSE it will have to be removed, and it only applies to
real-time products.

And, thank you for filling in your System Specs!
well, it's in my interest to provide any information that can help anyone helping me
If you only knew how difficult it is to have the new members supply that information.

Thank you again!
Whew!!
That sure is a lot, but there was some catching up to do.
The important part though is what I posted between

I will also want to discuss your System Restore once we get your 580 straightened out, some of these errors may still reside there, so don't use it unless you really have to.
Post that scan log from SFC, and go over those steps.
