A router question.

Right now, my Internet is coming into my house into a box that my provider installed, then that box is connected to my router, I'm wondering if I can connect another router to that Ethernet port that is on my router, I want to make it so I have 2 different wifi connection points. I can supply the router models of needed.

You can connect one router to another to gain an additional connection point..... Just use an ethernet cable from the first router and connect to one of the ethernet ports on the 2nd router, not the WAN (internet IN) port...

The router will have one WAN and usually four LAN ports, you want to go from LAN to LAN... Hope that makes sense...

Along with Sedril advice...if you're going to use a second wireless router make sure to turn the DCHP off on the second router, other wise you'll get some router conflicts.

If you want to have a totally new and separate connection point, you will have to call the ISP and request a second line-in with modem. This will mean having a second bill every month also.

You don't need a second line in from your ISP to create another access point, you only need a dedicated wireless A/P for that which is a bit easier to set up than a second router and is made to do exactly what you are asking about.

You don't need to disable DHCP or assign a static IP with this access point, just plug into LAN port to LAN on other router or plug in through a switch and then access the A/P's set up page at dlinkap to set up the wireless settings.
