My graphics card fried about a month and a half ago and I replaced it with a Nvidia GeForce GT 640, since then I have been getting blue screens whenever I play games. I did uninstall my old graphics drivers and installed the new ones for my new graphics card. Usually I will get at least a couple minutes of play time before a crash, sometimes a couple hours, it's never very consistent on how long it will take to crash. I've ran a memtest86, and a chkdsk (although possibly only on the OS and nothing else, I'm extremely new to this and relatively unsure what I'm doing).

I ran the test for 16 minutes, it was about 6400 frames total. It maxed out at 53 C, although it only got 7 fps, which to me seemed a little low but I don't know if that matters. Also it held up fine, no artifacts or distortions.

You may follow two more things .....
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Run-DirectX-Diagnostic-Tool; and

Uninstall and reinstall the display driver.

  • Download and install Driver Fusion.
  • Reboot the computer in Advanced Boot Options, safe mode. Search Driver Fusion in your start menu, and remove all components of your nVidia display driver.
  • Boot normally now. Go to Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers, follow option two to search for the appropriate driver for your system automatically, and install it.

Alright so I ran the DirectX diagnostic tool and when I ran the 64 bit DxDiag I had this in the notes section of a couple of the sound tabs, is this something I need to find and update?

"The file WsAudio_DeviceS(1).sys is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL). You may be able to get a WHQL logo'd driver from the hardware manufacturer."

Also when I used the Driver Fusion I saw AMD Display drivers and was wondering if those might be something left over from my first graphics card that I possibly didn't delete? My first graphics card was an ATI Radeon, or something like that, I don't really know that much about it.

Well I couldn't find drivers to replace the ones the DxDiag tool said weren't WHQL signed, but all the AMD drivers should finally be gone. On the positive side though I didn't have a single BSOD today which hasn't happened since I installed the new card.

Dont worry, I also have dine what I am suggesting you now.

Uninstall the October version of nVidia display driver using driver fusion, and then install the earlier one, which was stable there.

Ok I installed the drivers made in September, I think it was version 306.23, and I'll see how these do.

Your crash dumps are not showing any finite probable cause. In such a situation, it is better to enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.

Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

Good news that you got a lot of crashes. :) Frankly speaking. Now disable Verifier.

It is caused by JMicron RAID Driver.
Code:
lmvm jraid
start end module name
fffffa60`00b20000 fffffa60`00b3b000 jraid T (no symbols)
    Loaded symbol image file: jraid.sys
    Image path: \SystemRoot\system32\drivers\jraid.sys
 [COLOR=Red]   Image name: jraid.sys
    Timestamp: Tue Nov 04 07:50:09 2008[/COLOR] (490FB159)
    CheckSum: 0001EF62

    Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4
Update it from Driver.

Let us know the result.

I went to the site but I wasn't entirely sure what it was that I needed to be downloading, when I clicked download at the bottom of the screen it brought up 4 different files, 1394, CardReader, Ethernet, and SATA_Controller

I think I updated the sata controller, I'll be honest the install wasn't very straight forward and confused me a little bit, and I'll look into getting the other ones tomorrow if I can. Anyway the sata controller by itself didn't stop the BSOD
