Why are all my recordings low volume and garbled?

You might have better luck with Audacity for line-in recording and use Real Downloader for stuff off the net (it allows you to download videos and rip sound from them)

I tried Audacity last month and the same problem was there.

Anyway, I've never had great success using the mic jack to record. It ain't stereo equip.

Just sound from Youtube or my Zoom recorder. My old computer had no problems with Windows XP. I need it for a band to learn new songs and to hear what we sound like.

You can just google search "Youtube Converters" and they will be able to burn the audio from the Youtube video into a .MP3 file format, which you can then play on your computer etc.

Thanks! I also need to burn CD's for my band mates. Do you think it's the sound card that is bad?

I would say so, if all your sound for everything was bad, but the Youtube Converters should work if you find a good reliable one (usually the first 3 results are the best).

I have alot of friends and family who use the same Youtube Converters and all their music etc. seems to be fine and play perfectly; the quality of the sound playback from the .MP3 file is dependent upon the quality of the Youtube video and the Youtube Converter being used.

The Real Downloader suggested by Slartybart works the same way.

I bet that will work on youtube. As long as I don't use my computer to record anything. All the plays from Youtube and other sources are crystal clear, recording....that's another story.

The actual recording of sound itself may just be to due to your microphone, and no problem, sorry we weren't able to completely resolve your problem.
