Solved check disc stops on its own suddenly

when i ran check disc for c drive today, it paused at 11% on stage 4 at file 8401 for a very long time. i let it be that way but after a time the screen suddenly turned blue & before i could read what was written the computer rebooted. it ran a disc check again but this time too, the same sequence of events repeated till i cancelled the disc check before it started the third time.
whats wrong? how to i get disc check to complete?
your help will be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

If check disk stops at the same place it has found a problem in the same place. I would recommend if you can backing up the data on that hard drive to a external storage first then go on with the testing. Their is a good chance your hard drive is dying or dead.

Hi,
I agree with Layback Bear but to confirm you hard drive is in its death throws download a trial of this tool and run a report on you drive,

Post back the results.

i have attached the report of the hard disc sentinel.
did all this happen because i used wise care 365? i have a strong feeling that program is the cause as all this happened after its installation.
the disk health has deteriorated from 59% when i installed the hd sentinel earlier yesterday to 56% now.
but i guess it's good news that when i ran the disc check again it ran upto file no. 34432 instead of stopping at file no 8401 like yesterday?
also, should i use other programs like hdd regenerator to fix these hd issues?

I think you have found your problem. Wise care 365. Hopefully that program hasn't mucked up things to badly. I recommend removing that program completely. Give this a try.

I make suggestions and recommendation not demands. Seagates tool comes highly recommended by many. I also recommend it.
drkitty both methods are very good. Read about both and make a choice. Neither choice will hurt and both will help.

i ran the sfc /scannow command but it stopped at 62% of the 1st stage & said "windows resource protection cannot complete the task" or something like that. now what?
ps- i deleted wise care 364 & all associated files the moment i suspected something fishy

First check you hardrive with seatools!! It looks like your harddrive is faulty.

"There are 51 weak sectors found on the disk surface. They may be remapped any time in the later use of the disk. 7338 errors occured during data transfer. This may indicate problem of the device or with data/power cables"

New hard drive required, get the important files backed up now. If you are in the US you can pick up some good hard drive deals with the Holiday sales on now. I see you are in India. Still need a hard drive to sort out your issues which will only get worse.

It's a hardware error... not a software error! Why sue WISE?

Honestly is was a time bomb waiting to happen, what ever you put on the hard drive would have done this, music files, video files, a map program etc. The sectors go bad and the errors start to build up until programs won't run and eventually windows won't boot. If you read any of the programs agreements they expressly tell you they are not liable for damage to your computer however caused. At least you are getting good warning about your drive dying it could have gone clunk and click click and you would have got nothing out of the drive.

Not a good thing to do!! Replace your faulty harddrive! Of course backup important files first.

Instead of manually unpacking and extracting the content of ISO image (or copying files from DVD) to HDD, deleting the ei.cfg and then repacking or rebuilding installation files back into ISO to burn, user can now eliminate troublesome procedures by making use of “ei.cfg Removal Utility”.

now the disc check goes upto file no. 50303 before stopping- that means it has resolved errors upto that point, right? i also managed to take a picture of the message that i receive after the disc check pauses & before the pc restarts. i have attached the photo. could you guys please read it & suggest if any other solution is possible? many thanks....

Do a checkdisk from recovery environment!! Bot into http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/666-advanced-boot-options.html and do "Repair your computer". Or boot from win7 system repair disc. Or win7 install dvd (repair computer). Then select "command prompt".

In command prompt:

diskpart
list  vol
exit

Now you see the drive letters of the partitions (can differ from win7). Ignore the CD/DVD volumes. Assume you see drive letters C and D. then type:

chkdsk/r  c:
chkdsk/r  d:

So do it outside windows.
BTW: iastor.sys is the intell sata driver ... not the default win7 one.

Post results. What is drive letter of your OS partition in recovery environment?

Maybe you have a ansty virus. Maby iastor.sys is corrupt or any other windows stuff. To test correct:

Do a chkdsk OUTSIDE windows!
Run seatools OUTSIDE windows.
