VGA to DVI-I.

Hey guys, quick question.

My GPU (Sapphire HD7770) comes with both DVI-I, DVI-D. Also HDMI and a display port, and I want to use dual monitors. One is a 23'' monitor, and the other one is a 19'' one I intend to use as a reading/playback monitor while the main one will be exclusively for gaming. The thing is that the first monitor has a VGA and DVI-D output while the 19'' has only a VGA output.

I was wondering what would be a possible way to wire both monitors to make them work together?
In my mind I was thinking that the 23 inch could just run with a DVI-D cable, and perhaps the 19 inch could run with a VGA->DVI-I adapter in the video card?

Or perhaps the 23 inch could use an DVI-D to HDMI cable and the 19 inch the vga to DVI-D adapter for the GPU?

You cannot run VGA off of the DVI-D connection it must be the DVI-I.

You cannot run VGA off of the DVI-D connection it must be the DVI-I.

.. isn't DVI-D analog and compatible with VGA? because that's how one of my monitors is working right now.

Quick extra question here, the 19'' is only VGA, would it cause any sort of impediment with the adapter? I've heard such things can happen, but honestly I hold no real knowledge about video signals and converting them.

The VGA adapters for DVI-I ports is a simple passive path-though adapter. What that means, it only rearranges varies pins to VGA, it doesn't covert any of the signals. It will not cause any issue.
