How to disable automatic "Format disk" when new HDD is connected?

I have an external & internal HDD that are both encrypted with Truecrypt.

Whenever I plug the external HDD in the computer, because of the true crypt formatting, it thinks the HDD is new & wants to format it.

Likewise when I am looking at my computer I can see my main internal HDD listed with a drive letter even when truecrypt does not have that HDD mounted and if you click on it it prompts you to format the drive then too.

Is there a way to disable any of this? I don't want the accidental situation where someone may be logged onto my name, or their own on this computer & accidentally click & format my main media HDD.

For a partition all it needs is to enter Disk Management, right click the partition and choose Change Drive Letter and Paths, and then Remove. I think the same applies to a HDD. Another method to get rid of these prompts is to initially format the partition as Linux as that is ignored by the OS. Works for me anyway.

only way I know is making a tiny unencrypted partition, even a few MBs. It will see that there is a partition and there is an awful lot of "wasted space", but won't care and stop bothering you.
You will have an additional useless entry in My Computer for that partition though. Just set it to use a drive letter down the scale, like Z or Y or whatever so it will be the last of your drives.

But I'm not an expert. Let's see if others have better ideas.

They have - me! If Johnny goes to the Truecrypt website and looks at the FAQs he will find the same advice as I've given - with the added note from me of formatting as Linux which achieves the same end.
