Hello, I have a new Samsung laptop that I just got, it came with windows 8 and honestly I don't like it. It dosent run that programs I need and to, but anyway, I need to put windows 7 on it and I have tried booting from a USB with the edited for uefi mobo setting and I can't seem to have it boot off of it? I have also tried just going to the setup file off the USB on windows 8 and it downloads it all but after it restarts it gets stuck at the "starting windows" screen. I really need help sense I can't run my programs, thanks

Do you have an optical drive? Can you make a bootable DVD and try from that? (I prefer the USB drive, as it installs faster, but it might be better to make a DVD than to waste hours trying to get a USB flash drive to boot.)

Mainly out of curiosity, what programs don't run under Win8? I haven't tried a ton of software on it, but so far everything that ran under 7 also seems OK under 8.

I had the same problem with a new Alienware laptop I just got. It had Windows 8, which on a non tablet PC is a total desaster. What in the world was Microsoft thinking? They have gotta be doing some totally insane drugs. Windows 8 makes Vista look spectacular!

I tried installing 7 by USB, but had so many problems that I decided to go to a DVD instead. Its just the easiest way to go. 30 minutes later I was done. You can use a portable USB dvd drive if your laptop does not have one internally.

When you buy Windows 7, there are two DVD's one x32, & one x64, you will need to use the x64 DVD.

How did you produce the Win7 USB installer? What's the source of your Win7 license code? (I begin to think that I don't want to know. Be reminded that discussing software piracy is forbidden in these forums.)

If you have a Win7 .iso file, you create a DVD from it. (I have to be careful not to say "burn the .iso to DVD" some people have done that literally, rather than using a utility to produce the DVD that the .iso is an image of.)
