This is what Theog is trying to determine, if your PC in UEFI mode will boot the repair disk then it should boot the DVD. Have you tried burning another Win7 DVD from step 1 and 2 of Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

Are you close to deciding to wipe the HD to reinstall to an MBR disk in Legacy Mode? Don't forget you have the option. It's all in Bypass UEFI to Install WIn7 and hasn't failed yet.

False alarm - accidently forgot U tried SATA in IDE mode rather than ACHI just to see if it would help with Windows 7 - didn't work and forgot to revert - Windows 8 boots fine again.

Your HDD Drive is in uEFI mode, but your DVD Drive is not.

Can't find an option to change it so - If you could point out something maybe when the video is uploaded. More of an insight of what BIOS features I have access to.

I'm seriously considering just buying another internal 2.5 inch SATA II HDD for Windows 7 but I don't know if there's any tracking software on my laptop would alert Acer and my Warranty or something - it could be a dumb thought but I'm not used to systems built by companies - I build myself.

Also, although I do have the W7 install DVD, I'm trying to use USB because I thought it said somewhere in one of the links shared that you should make a UEFI USB to boot W7 rather than use the DVD... or was it so you could do it in GPT? I don't know, but so far, both have resulted the same way.

Have you queried Acer and your mobo make via their tech support for Forums for why UEFI installer listing would not appear? Have you read the Manual for the mobo model?

Well there's no problem with W8 anymore but if this is just to test if I get a UEFI on the boot selection I'll try.

Reset to defaults many times. Many many times. Then after going to default I turn off Secure Boot and enable Boot selection by F12 (disabled by default settings).

No mobo manual for laptop in box or online - they seem a bit secretive.

Someone had to build the mobo and they must have tech support or a forums, some way to ask them about their settings.

If you're having this problem then normally so is someone else so there may be something via Google as well.

I've thrown in the towel - I'm making myself ill over all this stress - I'm running out of time and I really need to use Windows 7 on this laptop - some programs I need to use don't work properly on Widows 8 apparently.

I'm buying another HDD and installing Windows 7 on that in MBR mode in Legacy BIOS mode - forking out extra cash to get it delivered on Saturday, however, it may be snowing and I really hope it arrives - I just can't be dealing with this anymore. Sorry, I can't continue to find a solution, but I'm really angry and stressed out - I wish there was a law allowing users to pick their pre-installed OS in this country because that would have made things easier.

These are the same frustrations many of us feel having watched Win7 become wildly popular before being smothered in its crib without a sign of age. And UEFI challenges everything we've learned and helped develop here for installs and repairs. This is why we have been working with you feverishly on this, and last night the Admin read the thread to see if anything in the Win8 tutorials he's writing could apply.

Let's hope a new HD installed with the installer booted in Legacy non-EUFI labeled mode will work correctly to Clean Install Windows 7. You do have a second HD slot on that Laptop, correct? Because Win7 cannot be installed to an external.

Buying a whole new HDD - if I ever want to use Windows 8 again I'll just swap the drives and change the BIOS settings, although I doubt I'll be using that HDD very much, unless I want to demonstrate Windows 8 to someone and how annoying I personally find it - this is my opinion but I know, from many places around the world via things people have written on the internet, I know that my opinion is shared among others.

The only reason I'm not getting rid of Windows 8 completely is because I payed for the bloody thing when I bought my laptop - I would rather that system builders I've you the option of which OS you want installed, or perhaps even the option to have no OS included, maybe just a disk containing drivers compatible with numerous operating systems... although I probably wouldn't use that either - I'd just go to their website and get necessary drivers.

It sounds extremely stubborn, but if I could afford a lawyer, I'd bring this case to court - I probably don't even have a case here but this has just been in my mind for the duration of trying to get this sorted.

I am so bloody annoyed.

Who do I blame here though?

Acer? Acer's BIOS programmers?

I'm probably talking complete rubbish here but I am so bloody frustrated with the changes in the computer industry going on these last 2 years! I need a drink and a rest. Alcohol is going to be slightly more expensive for me these next few months after buying the new HDD.

I'm talking like a middle-aged man here - I'm only 19 - built my own PCs, fixed phone problems, hardware issues, programmed an old Motorola board in college 2 years ago using programming code, but UEFI and GPT are the first things to have defeated me since using a registry cleaner on an old family desktop in 2009 running Windows XP Media Centre Edition 2005 and completely screwing up the system (I've NEVER let any third party software modify to "clean" my registry since that day and never will).

This thread will remain unsolved as I'm not going to try and do anything further more with this now. It's just been a ridiculous week and a bit.
