I just found out I can't schedule a chkdsk scan, even after scheduling it the scan will not run when the computer reboots. I used the sfc scannow option and the results said something like "windows resource protection found integrity violations" with autochk.exe

I attach my sfcdetails.txt file

edit: I should mention I also tried the microsoft hotfix found here: The Chkdsk.exe program does not start correctly on a Windows 7-based computer but the .msu I get tells me "the update is not applicable to my computer", even though it should be compatible with my Windows 7 x64.

I was afraid that might be the only option, I don't really have the time for that until next week and I'm worried about the integrity of my Hard Drive.

Is there any chkdsk alternative that can scan my disk for errors without depending on autochk.exe?

You can either burn a disc from your recovery partition or get the .iso from here and burn it to DVD. And for the repiar/install you don't need the product key.

Oh, sorry, you must have seen my post before I edited it (I saw the tutorial actually includes the info for that). My problem is I can't really do that until I can sit down for the download and actual install process until next week when I'm back at home, but I'm still worried about my hard drive right now. I'd love to be able to scan it without autochk.exe, but I'm not sure if that's possible.

Try this command inside command prompt

Code:
[b]sfc /scanfile=autochk.exe[/b]

If that doesn't help try this

Replace autochk.exe from command prompt, using the Windows DVD:
Create a folder called "test" on the root directory of the C drive.
Obtain an uncorrupted copy of autochk (and any other corrupted files) and put them into the "test" folder. Then boot from your Windows DVD, and select repair your computer, and open a command prompt:

Code:
[b]Copy C:\test\autochk.exe C:\Windows\System32\autochk.exe /y[/b]
+ any other files that need replacing, such as

Code:
[b]Copy C:\test\autochk.exe.mui C:\Windows\System32\autochk.exe.mui /y[/b]

Try this command inside command prompt

Code:
[B]sfc /scanfile=autochk.exe[/B]

That got me "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation"

but if I include the whole address "C:\Windows\System32\autochk.exe" I do get:

"Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them" details at the log and what not, should be the same log I posted on the OP, right?

I finally got the time to follow whs' advice and use Partition Magic to scan my hard drive. It found no errors but get this... as soon as it finished and I rebooted chkdsk magically started working on its own, doing the scheduled scan no number of previous reboots accomplished before.

Very strange. Problem is CHKDSK ran all night and I missed the results, does anyone know where the log might be?

Ah, that's good, seems like there are no errors and even my autochk.exe problem was solved with the partition magic scan. Odd, but satisfying. Thanks so, so much everyone.
