Personally I'm thinking about getting a hybrid hd (hhd) once they start supporting 5 tb or more once the prices stabilize of course.

A hybrid HDD might make sense on a laptop that has room for only one drive (I'm debating on whether or not to put one in mine) but, on your rig, you would get far more bang for your buck with a smaller (120-128GB), separate SSD for just your OS and programs and use HDDs for your data. The speed gain from a hybrid is marginal at best. Also, 1TB is as large of a hybrid as I've seen lately and I seriously doubt they will get any bigger anytime soon, if at all.

I have a 750GB SSHD and SSDs, the SSDs are still 100 times faster. I suspect 5TB is a bit in the future as 4TB have now started to become available as a regular drive.

We're not too far off from 5tb sshd's Regular old SSD's are a bit too expensive for me with not not enough storage... I'm using 4.5 tb right now.

This memory will be used in the WD Black SSHD drives. Recently Western Digital has also announced several consumer SSDs, it’s unsure if they will also the Tosbiba/Sandisk NAND or that the cooperation is limited to the SSHDs. SSHD drives combine the fast but expensive NAND flash memory with slower and cheaper traditional magnetic memory.

By combining both it’s possible to achieve excellent performance while keeping the price low. The WD Black drives use this technology and are available in capacities of up to 4TB. That size is the amount of traditional magnetic memory, it’s unclear how much NAND WD is adding to this drive to be used as cache.

You are aware that the NAND in a SSHD doesn't add to the total memory and is only used to cache the data that is already on the HD portion? It would be different if the SSD portion showed up as a separate drive from the HDD portion but, with only a single SATA connection, I seriously doubt it will. I still feel, even after the SD/WDs come out (which I doubt will be anytime soon), you will get much better performance with a separate SSD and HDDs than with the SSHD and probably for about the same cost (if not less).

Pretty much the same boat till I went to fry's since then they have taken it down all together but no worries I still got 2 copies for 60 bucks and my dad paid me full retail for both because he had me set up two pc's so I guess with all that still made a little profit even if it was just the OS everything else was saved hardware from other builds so I guess all in all my Dad got some modern hook ups for only 200.00 wish I can build a gaming rig for that much :shock:

vgchat, how did you get your cpu score to 7.7 ? You show no overclocking in your specs. I have that cpu and even with a 4.4 OC the score does not change.

And what speed is your memory, as you are coming up a point shy of mine with the same amount.
