dell inspiron 1545 help

was told to post this here instaed of installation ans set up..
help needed help needed on a dell i got today.. i bought it cheap. due to the fact that the person i got it from was scared of a warning she got a day or 2 ago. on the laptop screen is a police screen saying to pay the fine to ??????? or else, and her ip addy is being logged as illegal.
anyway back to my problem
i thought i would re-install windows 7 as the factory back up has been deleted
on boot up i get the blue screen of death!
if i try low level format laptop freezes?
i managed to install linux mint no problem at all.
i try windows again and blue screen again

tried maxtor powermax to low level and kill disc

any help appreciated guys

if this post is not allowed i apologise now but im at my wits end with it

I have asked Cottonball to take a look at your issue. I believe you still have something hiding after you did a format on the drive when you had the FBI randsomware.

Did you install win7... all went fine? After first boot you have to enter a few questions did you come so far?

no, when i got laptop and booted, fbi (uk version) popped up, tried windows 7 install but get bsod. no install took place
on blue screen says basically, problem occured and windows been shut down. asks if first time i see the screen then if ive added hardware etc
at bottom says technical info

Do "clean" instead of "clean all". Select the right disk!

When done... install win7. Post back results

Why not simple kill the FBI ransomware? Why reinstall? Or do you want a clean start?

When you boot from win7 install dvd, you see somethign like "press any key to boot from dvd" or something like that.
Tell what happens exactly.

only gives choice of system restore which fails, told you, im at my wits end with it

Clean disk first! and use a good install DVD. What version of win7 do you need? x86 or x64... prof or home premium or ultimate? what language?

after set up has loaded the files it says "set is starting windows" at bottom of screen. i have both 7 home 32 and 64 bit, and xp pro 32 and 64 bit but all give blue screen of death

if this is the first time you've seen this message restart your computer. if this screen comes up again follow these steps.

check for viruses on your computer. remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. check your hard drive to make syre it is properly configured and terminated.
run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, then restart your computer

I think motherboard needs special AHCI drivers(?)

Check bios and look at sata settings. Are they RAID, AHCI, IDE Or ...? what possible values have you?

yea just seen that in google, changed ACHI TO ATA gonna try that, no not got motherboard cd
