I cannot see or edit most Publisher 2010 file properties in Windows explorer and the file properties do not work in Windows searches. I can access the metadata information from within Publisher, but not from Windows 7 explorer. When I right-click on a Publisher file (or PDF file) from Windows explorer I do not get these metadata fields at all.

I used to be able to see and edit these in Windows XP and Vista. I can see Name, Date Created, Date Modified. But I cannot see/edit -Tags, Title, Categories. No preview of the file is displayed either.

All these are visible and able to be edited with other types of files (e.g. Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) It seems to be just with Publisher, although it is possible PDF files might have the same problem. I can see previews of PDF files but not title, tags, category (its possible the PDF's I have just don't have this metadata).

Thank you for responding, pcunite. I updated the IFilter pack, but it didn't solve the problem. It was great to at least have something to try!

Well shucks ... these type of problems occur because file extension handlers are in 32bit when the OS is 64bit. IFilter plugins can help with this issue but I guess not for you. Oh well.
