I would really appreciate some help on this issue. I have been trying like a madman to use the new windows seven benefits of streaming DIVX/XVID to my Xbox 360 via WMC. I am experiencing some lagging issues when playing through WMC the lag is just slight but very annoyiong. I have a Netgear wireless router but the 360 is connected via ethernet. I have used both Windows 7 build 7100 and 7600 to no avail same problem on both. The files play flawlessly streamed to the dashbopard via WMP12. I would love to be able to use Media Center on the 360. I have a brand new system with more than enough power and memory.

I know this isn't a direct solution for WMC but are you familiar with TVersity? I do A LOT of streaming to my living room with my xbox360 and I have been using TVersity for quite some time and have been VERY happy with the results. Best part is it streams/transcodes on the fly so if you have enough PC power (you can reference my specs below) you can stream 1080p MKV videos to your TV via the xbox (on it's own the xbox will NOT play MKV's which is why TVersity is so attractive). MKV's are probably the most popular avi containers for HD content these days. BDRips are now appearing but MKV's are still dominating.

I thought Tversity couldn't stream Mkv's. Are you converting the mkv's into avi's ?

This might not be a direct answer but you tried pausing the video for say 5 mins, maybe it has chance to buffer then and you wont experince any issues.

Easiest Fix in the world =P I've been doing this for a long time but you needa use Windows Media Player not Center and this is what your gonna do.

Open Windows Media Player -

Then on the top you should see 3 little drop down menus...
Organize, Stream, Create Playlist

So click on the arrow of Stream and click "More Streaming Options"

A Window will pop up should recognize any devices hooked up to your network ( aka. computers, xbox 360, etc )

So find you xbox 360 and make sure it says "Allowed" next to it if not change it.

Then you needa to make sure you have your movies folder in your WMP, so...

Goto --> Organize -> Manage Libraries -> Videos

Click "Add" and browse to the folder containing your movies.

Now click on "Videos" in the sidebar to the left of the Windows Media Player and all your movies should appear in there.

Goto your Xbox 360 - Goto My Xbox -> My Videos

It will ask you to choose a source so choose your computer and then it should be good =P

NOW as far as MKV goes I have not yet found a way of getting them to work in Windows Media Player but I'll keep looking and let me know if you find anything!

Good luck,
Kukag

Thanks for all the great replies guys. Just top clarify I am not trying to run mkv just avi originally downloaded in the format. I do not have a gigabit switch but I had enabled flow control.

I had already setup WMP 12 to share with my 2 360s and everything works great. What baffles me is that the exact same video wiull stream through wmp flawlessly but WMC stutters.

Cheers guys.
