BSOD after installing new power supply

My last PSU went out and once I installed my new one I am getting BSOD while playing TERA (MMO game). It happened twice within 30 minutes of playing. I never had blue screen errors until now. I am skeptical that the cause is something outside of the PSU replacement but I won't over look the possibility. I've analyzed the dump files but I am not sure how to fix these. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hello BHoffman.

If it is really caused by PSU replacement, it will not be traced inthe dump; but shuffling with another available PSU may lead you to some direction.

The dumps somehow indicates to the Display driver.
Code:
fffff880`025b0c68 fffff880`04952b39Unable to load image nvlddmkm.sys, Win32 error 0n2
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for nvlddmkm.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for nvlddmkm.sys
 nvlddmkm+0xb4b39
And the driver is old, also it is somehow problematic.
Code:
fffff880`0489e000 fffff880`05345000 nvlddmkm T (no symbols)

I would suggest you to install version 314.22 WHQL and see how it runs.

I've already tried updating drivers to 320.49 as I seen same thing you did. Also, I didn't have any of these issues with anything 4 days ago before my power supply went out. I ran prime95 and all good there. Reseated all connectors then ran kombuster for 30 minutes without it crashing or any signs of bad graphics card, then assumed a lose wire was the culprit. Started gaming for about a hour and then the blue screens resumed again. I'm attaching more dump files that have occurred since my initial post.

Decided to just return this cheapo PSU and get a silverstone 700w. Atleast then I'll know I have a reliable brand. Will update if problem persists or not.

After returning the PSU and installing the new one, I didn't receive any BSOD until today (6 days). Seems to only happen when I try to start gaming. I recompiled logs from diagnostic tool. If anyone has insight on how to fix this would be appreciated. Thanks

Sorry I failed to get your point. You had and you have nvidia GPU, GTX 470; from your first post to your last post.
Not found any stress of ATI GPU in any of your data till time :(

Onboard GPU is AMD. I uninstalled and did not update those drivers due to me never using it. I noticed after reviewing my dump files, that one of them mentioned an ATI driver.

Hi,

Just to clear up any confusion, your on-board GPU is not AMD for that motherboard
according to ASUS :): :ar: M4A78T-E - Motherboards - ASUS

Your on board GPU is a: Integrated ATI Radeon™ HD 3300
PCIe Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 470
CPU: AMD Socket AM3 ;Phenom™II /Athlon™II /Sempron™ 100 Series Processors
Chipset: AMD 790GX/SB750

There is only one update for the ATI Radeon, which is dated 2009 and I suspect is the one you have installed,
but you may try to update: :ar: M4A78T-E - Motherboards - ASUS

Hope this helps

cheers

Dave

I did not pay attention to the onboard GPU's part :o My bad.
But as it is not activated, it should not cause any issue. Still what you have done is great step. Let us know how it is running :)

Two days later I start getting BSOD again. Here are the new dump files and updated logs. One of them is a new stop code that I haven't seen before on my system ntfs.sys. The other is one that I have seen very often, ntkrnlmp.exe. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

This time it is showing multiple errors in the last two dumps.

Display driver is failing.
Code:
fffff880`0786b6e8 fffff880`04ac920dUnable to load image nvlddmkm.sys, Win32 error 0n2
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for nvlddmkm.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for nvlddmkm.sys

The latest version is the display driver is often problematic. Install the 314.22 WHQL only.

  • Uninstall All nvidia items in Control Panel > Programs and features
    • 3D Vision Control Driver
    • 3D Vision Driver
    • Graphics Driver
    • HD Audio Driver
    • PhysX
    • nvidia Update
(Are you using nvidia chipset drivers? If so, dont uninstall anything other than those are listed).
  • Now follow Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling
  • Boot normally now. Go to Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers, Download 314.22 WHQL. While installing, Select Custom (Advanced) install. In the next page, follow this settings:

Also some ataport errors ate there.

Code:
fffff880`0786ba58 fffff880`010760c5 ataport!AtaPortCompleteRequest+0x21
fffff880`0786ba18 fffff880`0107f731 ataport!IdeProcessPortNotification+0x30d
I see that there is Virtual clone drive installed.

ITEM|VALUE
Name | Virtual CloneDrive
Manufacturer | Elaborate Bytes AG
PNP Device ID | ROOT\ SCSIADAPTER \0000
Driver | c:\windows\system32\drivers\vclone.sys (5.4.4.3, 35.50 KB (36,352 bytes), 1/15/2011 10:21 AM)

The SCSI adapter installed by Virtual CloneDrive may cause this error, so it is suggested to uninstall Virtual CloneDrive.

One more thing in this regard ... ataport.sys is always the most vulnerable to malware called rootkit. For a safety reason, scan the system for possible virus infection with the following programs.

and, Ntfs error is there, too.
Code:
*******************************************************************************
*                                                                             *

If you see NtfsExceptionFilter on the stack then the 2nd and 3rd
parameters are the exception record and context record. Do a .cxr
on the 3rd parameter and then kb to obtain a more informative stack
    trace.
The C drive is feeling up. It has 11.72 GB free space left. So better to clear some files. Disable Hibernate. It is not anything must for a desktop, and it will salvage some free space there.

Check your Maxtor 200 GB, too .... do some Disc checks.

  1. Re-seat the sata and power.
    72974453_zps85c47d93.jpg
  2. Run chkdsk /f/r, following the option two of the tutorial Disk Check
  3. Seatool for dos: SeaTools | Seagate download
Burn it in a blank cd. boot from the CD, click on "Accept", wait for it to finish detecting the drives, then in the upper left corner select "Basic Tests", then select "Long Test" and let it run.
Let us know the results.

I uninstalled and cleaned all graphics drivers then ran clean install of 314.22 whql nvidia driver. Uninstalled VirtualCloneDrive and ran the scans provided. Both resulted with no threats. I already had hibernate disabled a long time ago to free up space. Seatools for DOS long test and short DST both passed.
I ran chkdsk /f/r and here are the results:

Was running fine until today (1 full day without BSOD). I compiled the diagnostic logs again with the new dump file. When it BSOD'ed, as it was booting back, it BSOD again at the windows loading screen before desktop loads but that instance didn't get reported in the dump files. Roughly 45-60 minutes later I get another couple BSOD with different probable causes. I'm starting to see inconsistencies with what the probable cause is in the crash dump records. I used to see probably caused by ntkrnlmp.exe quite consistently but now it's getting to be more random. Will keep you updated if more BSOD occur.

Do it as soon as possible.

Also update Realtek network driver. Get it grom Realtek. You are supposed to take the Win7 and WinServer 2008 R2 Auto Installation Program dated 2013/8/1.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.

That's odd that you don't see those actions done because I uninstalled virtual clonedrive through the control panel then ran both tdsskiller and windows defender offline (from boot). Which of these actions is not showing up in logs? Also, I can't re-uninstall virtualclonedrive of course but I will perform the rootkit scans once more just in case. I will run the memory tests tonight as well even though I ran prime95 over a week ago with all passes. Also, here's another BSOD that occurred as I booted up my PC this afternoon.
