What is an very easy Backup & Recovery of disk imaging?

I am in need of a very easy to learn Backup & Recovery program please. I want to be able to take a image of my copmputer and put on my External Harddrive. I have tried Acronis, & Paragon and some others but they are so confusing. I have epilespy and its hard for me to understand some things. Please, any and all help will be greatly appreciated. There are several free versions , they all seem to work just fine.

You might look at Aomei, it is excellent, completely free and they don't have a paid version to try and sell off the back of it.

I would also support Macrium Reflect (free). Like most things there is always a bit of a learning curve but this nice tutorial should get you going

Acronis Trueimage is really easy, once you have doe it once.

The bottom pic was missing- it asks you where you want to save the image-
I name it Discwizard and the date, for easy reference.

Also, make the boot CD, which will allow you to recover your OS and all updates, etc, in case you cannot boot.

This just happened to me when I was hit with the FBI Moneypack virus - this saved my sanity.

Those cut down Acronis do the job , but they are very large and intrusive, and have a lot of limitations.

Both of the others mentioned, Aomei and Macrium are more efficient and have more functions. They are better free versions. I started the whole macrium thing back on Vista Forums - it is a good one. However, Aomei is now even better.

I use Paragon HDM - Pro/Server/Business. They aren't free but I should mention paragon backup and recovery free - works well, too.

If I was using only a free version, it would be Aomei.

In my opinion, Truemage is the best and I have used it for years.

It has all the functions I need or care about, but we all have our own preferences.

Of course you can have your own preference.

If the OP is looking for a FREE and easy to operate solution , the FREE acronis discwiz and wd equivalent are far from being the best choice.

Not only is Aomei the best FREE solution, it is also very easy to operate and understand.

But is there a imaging program out there that when I do a image of "C" drive that onto e External drive that it will let me Restore it. I find so far that Acronics won't let me restore it? I am trying so hard and its probably something that I am doing wrong.

You aren't paying attention; you've already been given several options. Look at the tutorial I linked earlier for Macrium Reflect. With any free imaging program, you will need to make a rescue CD or USB stick to be able to restore.

I just did a backup to an external hdd to test it and it works fine.

Here are the piics that will help you-

On first pic, left click backup and right click and press Recover - follow the pics and you will be good to go.

Also, you should create backups in two locations and make sure you create the boot CD.

You're doing fine - it's just the learning curve to be overcome.

If your comp boots, you can just go to Start Menu and open the Acronis program from there.

Both I and Lady Fitzgerald gave you links to an excellent tutorial by one of our members WHS who is very knowledgeable about Macrium.
BTW ALL imaging programs will in principle do what you want. It's just that Macrium Reflect has an excellent free version, a user friendly interface and is highly regarded for its reliability and flexibility. WHS will show you how you can "play around" making test images and restoring them without affecting your PC.

I'm sorry Lady Fitzgerald. Yes I am confused. I did look at Macrium Reflect and just don't know wether to go with it or not. I did download it but it said Macrium Reflect Download Package. Don't know if it was the right one or not. In fact I am going to review your reply again and get the correct download site. I just want to be able to do a image to my External Harddrive and be able to restore if need be just as easy. I do greatly appreciate your help. I will give it a shot tonight. I did download Aomei Backupper. This after noon I made a image using that program but haven't tried to see if the Restore part works ok. I do thank you. and will let you know what happens.
