Hi there, just built a new pc build.
I installed a h80i water cooler into my system and set up the radiator in the dual fan mount setup with the fans pushing out the back of the case, connected the usb link/power cables and it ran. installed corsair link and noticed corsair link displayed different temps to CPU ID h/w monitor.

I have checked the asrock utility for my motherboard, I have checked cup id h/w monitor I have checked speccy and corsair link

the temperatures varied on each from 2-22-25-40-0
and now speccy and cpu h/w monitor say 18c. asrock motherboard utility says 0c/32f on cpu/motherboard

sooooo I broke the temperature sensors... program bug....?

new pc specs
990fx extreme 4
amd fx 8120
120gb Kingston ssd
ddr3 1600mhz 8gb
h80i water cooler

The pc runs fine for gaming/general use but im a bit concerned about which temperature is actually correct o.o

If you run more than one temp program at the same time it's a good chance you will get goofy readings. They use the same temp sensors at the same time and fight each other.

Use Core Temp and that`s it.

Your bios will show you a proper cpu temprature, usually showing you the highest temp of all the cores.

Speccy is garbage for reporting true cpu temps.

core temp comes bundled with so much bloatware I couldn't get myself through the install >.>
also bios is reporting n/a n/a n/a for everything except for cpu fan 2

cpu id hardware monitor is now reporting amd fx 8120 as 20c and speccy says 20c...
^ thus my problem... the programs are all over the place and the bios isn't reporting temps anymore

I do believe your Corsair cooler also has a setting you can change.

Was their a Corsair program that came with your cooler that you could also adjust the the pump and fan.

http://www.corsair.com/us/hydro-series-h80i-high-performance-liquid-cpu-cooler.html

Built-In Corsair Link
No additional hardware is necessary – just connect the included Corsair Link cable to a USB header on your motherboard and download the free Corsair Link Dashboard software. You can monitor coolant temperature and adjust cooling performance directly from your desktop.

If he has the H80I it comes with it

I tested one during the summer and didn't like it but you have to link it to the USB on the MB

I would only use that and core temp /Also with Corsair link he can make custom profiles which should of been done from Jumpstreet

Most 990fx mobo's report 3 temps, cpu, mb and chip set. Corsair link adds a pump (coolant) temp to that, be sure you are reading and comparing the right temps. I prefer HWINO64 for sensor reporting, temp, rpm and voltage are very accurate.

AMD is like that. the best to use is either the corsair temp provided in link or your mobo utility. in corsair, the temp you see is the temp of the liquid in the cooler. NOT THE CPU. if your mobo app dosent work, then use corsair. but AMD always gives funky results..... ive owned 3 CPU's and 2 Mobos and 0 programs were correct other than the provided mobo utility.

your best bet is link then. just remember, that temp is the temp of the liquid in the cooler. NOT THE CPU! so be carful when OCing if u OC. the temp of the liquid is always going to be lower than the temp of the actual cpu....

yeah I know im using corsair link already... what im trying to work out is why the bios is displaying n/a n/a n/a and all the mobo tools are reading n/a 0c

I have several programs that are reading a rough cpu temp of 25...but were reading that when the cpu temp still displayed and said 45... on the mobo utility.... now mobo utility is broken....

so to clarify

TRYING TO FIX BIOS AND MOTHERBOARD UTILITIES NOT DISPLAYING TEMPERATURE DATA
