PlayStation 3 Owners?

@ Zidane - sounds about right. (keep the receipt j.i.c)

i think the only reason i dont own any consoles is that the fact of buy one, foe just one game (ps3 - metal gear 4, 360 - ...idk) is kinda dumb. most of the 'good' ones make their way to PC anyway. plus i still dont understand what these 'achievements' and 'trophies' are for... someone tried to explain it to me, but he was unclear of what you actually 'win' (which im assuming is nothing).

but if i do get a console, it'll probably be a 360, despite the 54% fail ratio.
The achievements are pretty much rep...there is nothing that you gain materially....people just see that you are an avid and skillful player. Quoting a user in another thread, it is "little man syndrome". People need all those achievements shown to fulfill a lack of self-esteem

BTW I will admit that I originally got the PS3 for MGS4...in which I played the hell out of;) (got big boss rank....yeah I am that good:D)

I got the 360 just as a collectors item my Freshman year of college. It ended up sitting in a college buddies room for a whole semester (he loved the 360 but couldn't afford one...gotta love Fin Aid Refunds:D). I ended up going to their room to play my Rock Band:roflmao:

Simply amazing how the PlayStation 3 turned out this generation, people shoved their way into game stores to get the PS1 and PS2 and could give a flying F about the Xbox or Dreamcast, yet they were both far superior game consoles of the time. Xbox 360 comes along, EVERYONE must get it, yet then the RROD and E74 Errors pop up. Gamers never really learn from their mistakes, keep buying 360 knowing of its 54% failure rating and time wasted waiting for it to be fixed. PlayStation 3 comes along, everyone ignores it... Yet it's FAR cheaper, and FAR superior in EVERYWAY compared to Xbox 360. I don't get it.

Oh yea, PSN Online is now way better than Xbox LIVE, Firmware 3.00 has enabled many things that LIVE can do...and then some. Plus...it's FREE.

Let us not start another war. Ever since the Jasper chipset has been used for the xbox 360 (Jasper is also known as the 3rd Gen version, I have the 1st Gen not one RROD yet) the failure rate and severely dropped. I've never used PSN so I have no comment on it.

I keep hearing this rumor that Microsoft is planning to make XBL free but I do not trust that rumor, it'd be a smart move on their end though.

Honestly if I had a choice between a PS3 and a Xbox 360, for free (one of the two), I'd take the 360. Main thing PS3 has over the Xbox 360 is upgradability. You can use any laptop hard drive instead of having to buy a 'special hard drive' (Yes I know the xbox 360 uses a laptop hard drive as well).

Oh and you can run linux on the PS3 without the fear of being banned by de ban hammerz!

I don't really understand the Achievements and Trophies either, I mean SERIOUSLY?! I've been playing video games since Sega Genesis came out, and I honestly consider myself a "professional" gamer. To me, I think the "Awards System" is unfair because I just got my PS3 and it's been out for 3 years now while Xbox 360 been out 4 years now, many people have been playing games during those 4 years and have won many many many "Awards" to "prove" they are good, so I just come in and everyone is making fun of me that I'm a noob and suck at gaming because I don't have anything on my "Profile". IMO, The "Awards" system will prompt people to go out and buy the next generation system ASAP! to get a ahead in the awards to prove they are good while the people who wait like me, or don't have enough money will be left out and suffer the "Noob Age".

Ignore the noobs that call you a noob. I get that a lot on Halo 3, and in the end I generally win. (Then they say something like 'you rocket noob' or 'you ghost whore')

The award system could be redone a bit I agree on that but all in all its nice to have stuff to work towards. :)

I've been playing many multiplayer demo games on PS3 lately, and simply AMAZED there's ABSOLUTELY NO LAG! why can't PC games follow suit in that department? Playing online multiplayer against people on PS3 is like feeling I'm playing retarded AI CPU players instead, it's THAT good.

Speaking of Metal Gear Solid, I'm a HUGE MGS fan but only played the original Metal Gear Solid on PS1 back in 1998 when I like 9 years old and beat the crap outta that game more than 20 times probably. Sad I never had chance to play MGS2 or 3, but I MAY look to MGS4, I just wanna go in the chronical order of things that happened in the story.

Yeah, I know they have little reason to make XBL free but the possibility still exists. It'd be a smart move on their end especially in this economy. :p

Blu-ray intergration - Who cares? I hardly watch DVD's anymore let alone blu-ray. With internet the way it is you do not need DVD/Blu-ray Disc's to watch movies.

WIFI - I use my laptop to connect to WIFI with the 360 so this doesn't bother me.

Hard Drives - Yeah, they are rather picky about that. They claim they only use hard drives that go above and beyond the specs of store-bought drives, yet people use normal 5400rpm 120gb drives perfectly.

PC's have to run a crap ton of processes and services, not so much for the PS3/Xbox 360. PC's also use x86 and x64 CPU's while PS3 and Xbox 360 both use a PPC CPU (like the older macs used.. just better).

I bring up Blu-Ray because of the size it has and the ability to make games much more than just a "sandbox" if the developer puts their mind to it. Like I said earlier, GTA 4 would've been a completely different game if it wasn't the limitations of the HD-DVD format and Rockstar admitted it, so they had to compromise somewhere to be "equal".

For techies, yes who cares, but the majority of gamers probably don't know how to do that, or they don't have a laptop, or laptop doesn't have wifi built in, different variables.

I've read that the only HD that is capatible with Xbox 360 is Western Digital BEV model line or something like that. I'm thinking about swapping my laptop HDD which is 160GB and put the 120GB in this computer since I rarely use more than 30GB of space.

I think Kojima should've had a better drawing board team. The guy in MGS3 is old and resembles the guy in MGS1, I keep thinking they're the same person, but according to people who have played the series, they aren't. But what are the specific dates? do you know?

MGS3 takes place in the 60's, 1 is in the 90's, 2 is in the 2X1X's, 4 is in sometime
the series is in a chronological blender.

even more confusing is that the guy from 1,2,4 is a clone of the guy from #3. and Ryden (is ghey) is also a product of genetic engineering, but i think he is cloned from Liquidis Snake.... it's a mess. Read all this junk to get a better idea.

Twin Snakes is the gamecube remake of the first one (on ps1) with more stuffing. Portable Ops is the 'sequal' to MGS3, and P.O.Plus is like a mutiplayer expansion of MGSPo (its standalone).

Metal Gear Ac!d (aso on psp) is the only one i dont know too much about. it's a turn based card game, type thing.

confussed yet? i am.

MGS3 chronicles the story of Big Boss from back in the 60's and his rise to become America's greatest soldier and hero (The Perfect Soldier that Solid Snake was cloned from...Snake still considers him his dad). Liquid Snake is a clone also (hence being Snake's brother). Solidus Snake is also a clone(I know....clone clone clone....even though Solidus was a 1:1 clone). MGS1 chronicles Solid Snake's adventure into Shadow Moses Island to confront his brother Liquid. MGS2 takes place a bit after MGS1 and chronicles Snake and Raiden's infiltration of GW to stop Solidus' ambitions. MGS4 takes place after MGS2 in 2014 and portrays how the world has erupted into proxy wars

BTW Raiden isn't a clone...he was outfitted with cybernetic enhancements (most noticeable being his exoskeleton)

....whew I hope that clears things up a bit;)

Kojima couldn't have picked more confusing character names, they all sound the same to me. It's been so long since I played MGS1. But aren't you all forgetting the first 2 of the series on NES and SNES?

Twin Snakes is the gamecube remake of the first one (on ps1) with more stuffing. Portable Ops is the 'sequal' to MGS3, and P.O.Plus is like a mutiplayer expansion of MGSPo (its standalone).

Metal Gear Ac!d (aso on psp) is the only one i dont know too much about. it's a turn based card game, type thing.

confussed yet? i am.

I know Twin Snakes is a remake of MGS1 since I was freaking excited about it when I first heard of it coming out when I had a GameCube, but since it's a different game alltogether from the original first, there has to be new tidbits for the story?
