Solved Crackling/Scratchy Sound in my Netbook

Good day everyone. I have this problem in my netbook wherein every time I played audio files using Media Player or VLC, the sound is not good. Sometimes it stops, make a crackling/scratchy sound, and/or lags. And also, when I play music using the two applications and at the same time doing other things such as browsing the web, typing in Word, doing presentation in PowerPoint, and or editing pictures using Photoshop, the sound is not good. Additionally, it also occurs when I play videos in YouTube and other sites.

What should I do? Is there any problem with my player or my system?

Your problem, crackling/scratchy, has been reported by many. There is no "one fix" for the problem. Some things that can contribute to this is sound drivers, video drivers, defective power supply, etc.

First suggestion, make sure you are using the PC vendor's supplied sound driver. If you have the PC vendor's sound driver, check for an updated version, and if there is no updated versrion, reinstall the current version. Non vendor sound drivers can either not work or not work correctly.

Wi-Fi is another known cause. Temporarily disable Wi-Fi and see how audio plays.

Good day.

I updated my drivers for audio, but still the same outcome. But just yesterday, I installed MediaMonkey, and so far those problems are gone. Maybe the problem came from the player itself. And also I noticed that if I work near electrical outlet and/or near appliances (turned on), those crackling/scratchy sound can be heard. Maybe (another speculation), the built-in speakers are affected by electrical fluctuations (if my term is right).

figured as much seems like it has some messed up drivers if you use the specy program in my sig what does it say under audio for your chip?

okay we need to know what via chip besides that it is a via so i know your laptop is a NEO but they make lik 30 NEO's so on the bottom of your computer it should state the model as in "basic B5114" that's the info we need. also that motherboard you have listed for your machine says it has a chipset that uses intel hd audio and that is perhaps what you need but having a model # would confirm that.

What do you mean by "what via chip" and "model #"? Model number of intel hd audio? How? Sorry, I don't know how to get that info. By the way, the model is Basic BC2EL-102.

There are three applications - Setup.exe, instmsia.exe, and instmsiw.exe. I installed by clicking the setup file, and done. But when I played audio, still the same problem. Anyway, is that an audio driver or a software? (Correct me if I'm wrong, I just don't know).

the setup one is what you want as its designed to install all three and it should be a driver with software. before you installed it did you uninstall what ever your old one was and reboot before installing the new one? maybe your atom just can't handle what your trying to playback but i doubt it. what version of VLC are you using and when using it what does your task manger show for under the performance tab for cpu and ram used? you may just have bad speakers. It sounds like your ram is not enough to keep up with your OS and the stuff your trying to playback. Also it seems like your cpu only supports up to 2GB with it which is really low which is odd since its a 64 bit cpu.

I did not uninstall the old driver. So it means that I must uninstall VIA High Definition Audio, then restart, and install the driver that came from Neo? Honestly, I am afraid of doing that. Ahahaha. I will create restore point just in case.

By the way I am using the latest version of VLC.

Good evening everyone. Sorry I've been busy in my work. I just want to say that I found a solution in my problem. I just disabled the enhancements in my playback device. And now I am listening to a no-crackling-sound output of my speaker. Hope this help to all with the same problem.
