Lexmark X5070 printer is giving me an error message.

Hello,

I have a HP Desktop Windows 7 Professional 32-bit. I tried a new printer and hated it. I reinstalled my Lexmark X5070 and I am having trouble with the reinstall. The actual reinstall went well for the most part. When I try to print content from a website I get an error message.

"Enable Bidirectional Communications" settings in the printers properties dialog.

What to do?

Anne this is the driver for that printer. Personally from experience I think Lexmark are very heavy on inks as are Canons so I have gone a HP Officejet but if you are happy with the Lexmark then try that driver first.

I installed Driver Reviver to discover that it would cost me $30 to update 7 drivers they say needs to be updated. Can I update them on my own? I have more time than money.

Anne I don't trust those driver sites that advise you what there isavailable and to be honest to charge you for it is a joke. The best way is toalways go to the manufacturers site with every driver you need. The Windowsfeature is ok but I am not impressed with it as it is in my humble opinion notterribly thorough.

You can first try that by uninstalling the new printer driver (that youdidn't like) and then download this driver.

Personally I would get rid of that driver site as I said they are not reallymuch good and have a good chance of being superfluous at least and loaded withrubbish at worst.

For some reason, the link you gave me, sent me to the Driver Reviver website. I just downloaded the driver I found at Lexmark (thank you). Boy, I hope it works.

I think I know why I am having troubles now. When I uninstalled the Cannon, I uninstalled the driver for my old Lexmark.

Ok Anne keep us posted that last link should have been from Lexmark the driver reviver I am guessing has left a cookie in the machien and is trying to get you back.

If you have CCleaner then run it. When that is done go to Options > Cookies > leave the cookie on the left hand side and go back to Cleaner and Run it it will delete the cookie.
Just keep in mind ANY cookie that is used for sites you have a password for keep it by highlighting it and send it to the right hand list for safe keeping. See my pic. It will take a while if you haven't used CCleaner before so be patient.

I'll keep CCleaner as an option. What exactly does it do? I'm have tech friend coming by tomorrow and I have High hopes we can get this mess back in order again.

Btw, you are quite right about HP being a better product. I had a Pavilion printer but was a bit too forceful with a paper jam. I should have gotten another HP. Lexmark can be quite annoying when they pester you to get more ink.

I would like to get another HP; wireless would be nice, and no extra bells and whistles. Any models in mind?

It cleans all the temp files and cookies and general clutter - most of the member sin here use as a regular clean up tool. t does other things too like uninstalling stuff and registry checks etc See this

Used regularly it can keep the machine running a bit more efficiently.

For a printer I just got this one HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer - N911g(CM750A)| HP® Australia it is just the best one I have had and I had Canons for years but I find they are inkaholics now this machine is quiet and very cheap to run ink wise. It isn't the cheapest on the block but in reality the cheaper the machine the dearer it is to run and vice versa but like I said the inks for this one are very reasonable and the aftermarkets ones even better priced.

Hello I,

In the end I found out that I had the usb cord in the wrong cpu port. Big duh! I have enough black ink left until I buy another printer.

As I said in my previous post, the next one will be an HP. I will be going to their website to get the skinny on which model to get. I know the basics of what I want. I will get a laser printer that will work as both wireless and direct connect at the same time. I really don't use the color at all. My friend told me this is the way to go if I want to save on ink expense. What do you think?
