Hi,

all of a sudden everything on my desktop vanished (apart from the taskbar)

I rebooted the machine and there was still nothing there.

I did a system restore to a point after where my last installed application was installed . The icons returned apart from the application-there was no sign of it (anywhere on programs and features )

I decided to undo the system restore to see if the icons might have returned on the up to date desktop. After getting back to the original desktop the icons were all there apart from the application, it had some how uninstalled itself!

I reinstalled the application and it works fine. I have scanned my computer using McAfee and Malwarebytes and they gave no indication of any virus activity.

I am now wondering what caused this "glitch" has anybody got any ideas?

TIA

Regards,

Ken.

I have had similar issues on several of the computers I service with absolutely no "reason or rhyme". I doubt that all of the peculiar behavior of Windows (any version) has been fully explained. I wouldn't be worried about it as long as the system is back to normal.

Hi

thanks for the input-both sets have been taken aboard.

one problem that I still can't explain is why the application did not just vanish but somehow uninstalled itself-any explanations- o yeah the system before and after the glitch was-is working fine!

many thanks

Ken.

This bug can happen randomly on some machines I have noticed. I don't think the problem has ever been traced to whats causing it.

It happened when just windows was installed 2 times for me as well. I sometimes wonder if I log into windows too quickly it seems to do it where the background does not refresh for some odd reason.
