Solved Turning off screen saver

A friend sent me the above which has directions for turning off the screen saver. I have followed those instructions twice and they have not turned off the screen saver. I have a feeling the problem is in the last step. Not sure. Perhaps the Apply button should be enactivated and used before OK? Or, the problem could be where it says "click item on list" Bubbles is in the frame already.

Could someone please enlighten me? Thank you.

To turn off the screen saver, you would select (None) for your screen saver, uncheck the On resume, display logon screen box, and click on OK.

Bless you! It happens every time. I try and try and then call for help. And there it is in front of me all the time. Actually I was afraid of that one lest it also shut off what my computer has been doing - lock down open programs and go to sleep (black screen). But that isn't a screen saver, is it? That's an energy saver. Right?

So, thank you. Now I know.

If you don't want your display to turn off, then double check using the tutorial below to see if you have this set to Never.

I don't mind it turning off. That is how it was at the beginning. A friend was helping me change the colors of my borders and decided I should have those pretty bubbles. Over my protest, she added them. So, that is what I was turning off. They are pretty but I can do without all that bouncing around.

Just have your monitor go off in 8 or 10 minutes, no need for a screensaver.

Yep, you could just set it to turn off the display for after however many idle minutes you like then.

She just wanted me to have something pretty but I don't need it and I imagine it prevents the computer from going into sleep mode.

If you like, you could use a screen saver, and still have the computer go to sleep later. You would just need to make sure that you have the computer set to go to sleep X amount of minutes more than the you have set for the screen saver and/or turn off display, or you won't see the screen saver before the PC goes to sleep.

I see what that would work, yes. I'm content with the simple one step.
