Will there be a service pack 2 on CD/dvd for windows 7 sp 1?

Does Microsoft still have those monthly iso images update you can download for each month for windows 7 sp1? They don't need to build an install program. All they would need to do is burn the updates on dvds/cds for each flavor of windows 7 sp1. They could sell it as on demand dvd/cd. Kind of like what Amazon does when the dvd/cd is not popular or even have Amazon do it. The only update that would be missing is machine specific update.

This has made my decisions on upgrading to 8.1 or 9 or whatever. I see windows update a waste of time now. With the way the economy is. I don't see people rushing out to by a new operating system or new computer every year. The only way that would work is if the retail operating full install version of Windows 8.2 or 9 cost $50.00 or under. The pro version cost $100.00 or under. Even businesses are strapped.

Win 8 was released at $39.99, later a free 8.1 upgrade was offered.

Remember if you are on AT&T and go over your bandwidth you are charged extra for that month, windows update could cause that.

I suspect all carriers charge you for going over you plan limit.

Can you still get the windows 8 for $39.99? 8.1 full install cost around $119.00 depending on where you buy it. I corrected my post. I found out they still do iso dvd images, most of those iso releases is a super large download.

There are iso images containing about 600 updates only. They do not contain the OS. You need to have the OS separately, then you have to figure out which updates you need and install them. You probably only need about 150 of them.


Easiest just to install the OS nad get the updates in the usual way via windows update. It is not that big a deal yet. Win7 Disk cleanup (cleanmgr.exe ) has a useful function to remove superseded updates.

There are several programs made by enthusiasts which will find your installed updates, and let you integrate them into the installation media. They work very well.

Win 7 is the most popular OS from MS. If you use it, you are fashionable.

Win 7 will be the most popular next year, so if you are using it now, you are ahead of the curve.

Service pack one is not a problem. Dell sent me a re-installation disk Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64 bit. By the way it doesn't need activating. They also sent me a drivers disk. My system originally came with Windows 7 service pack 1 pre-installed. I did a clean install. Put Windows 7 on one partition. Microsoft did forget to included the default printer driver for hp deskjet 3740. I tried all the tips suggested here, dell forum and HP support website nothing worked. I would of tried hp's forum but they don't respond to postings. I wish I could find the Microsoft address, where you can write & they would email you a file, they use to do that.

Yes and I bought it. But isn't this a Windows 7 to 8 upgrade and not a separate Windows 8 install?

I already knew that, plus it wouldn't work with my setup.


My original point is Microsoft should make a Service Pack 2 DVD/CD for Windows 7 all versions.

Microsoft is going to have to issue a windows service pack two by download and on cd or dvds.
Otherwise, it wouldn't fit the lifecycle guidelines.

If you go by that Windows 7 service pack 1 support should end in February or March of 2014 but I know they won't do that. There are a lot of places that still sell new computers with windows 7 with & without service pack 1 installed.

We will continue to allow retailers to sell the previous version of Windows for a year after the launch date of the new version.

Technically, the retail company shouldn't of sold me this new system with windows 7 service pack 1 installed or should of provided a windows 8 or windows 8.1 upgrade dvd disk with the system purchase. MS doesn't enforce that, I don't think they can free enterprise in the U.S.
