OP - What's the details of the modules? Are they identical type and speed? Make sure the modules are installed in the correct slots. If they are, you may have a bad slot. Try re-seating the modules then run Memtest.

You are never screwed you might need to swap it out for a better one but never screwed

You just built this so i am sure you can send it back and pay a few dollars for one that will be the right one for you

After looking at the board, it only has two slots. Run the memtest overnight as directed in the tutorial. Make sure it sees 8MB of memory. If it doesn't, you may have a bad slot.

my mobo has 4 slots you must of looked at the wrong one

Oh, and you can rum memtest till the cows come home, if the board doesn't support that much memory to begin with, memtest, and any other memory test becomes useless.

Running a GIGABYTE 760G mobo maybe the reason

that's not even a certified 990fx board that is 3 generations ago hmmmm

Why do these people continue to sell old news with newer hardware

This needs to be explored further before running memtest.

If, this is your board, it only states 8 gig, and only shows 2 memory slots, NOT 4...

Well it would help if you used the system specs settings at going back pages later to figure this out can get frustrating and confusing... example the confusion on the motherboard you have. See this tutorial on filling out system specs.

With that, have you checked your BIOS settings to insure the memory is correctly configured? Check the owner's manual?

That shouldn't decrease the amount of RAM, just the speed.

That's true it should already default to 1333

Mater fact that could be the issue with AMD and Intel depends on board though you can tab the ram to the correct freq
