Solved My SATA devices show up as SCSI??

Several system information utilities I've run show the SATA devices as SCSI? Any reason?

Here are two screen shots. One is from Speccy and the other is from AS SSD Benchmark.

I wouldn't worry about it Fireberd.

Your devices might incorporate some SCSI technology but that's all.

All of your drives, including optical are either SSD or SATA.

This is a common thing that happens in uttilities. Like Wolfeymole said, you should not worry.

As far as not worrying about it goes, it's usually nothing to worry about. However, non-native ports are driven by chips, such Asmedia or, especially, Marvell, and can be less reliable than native ports driven by the CPU. If a drive shows up in the Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media menu, you may want to consider relocating it to a native port (then again, if it ain't broke, don't fix it).

Just what I said. All the drives shown are SATA, including the two SSDs. SATA refers to the bus the data travels over. SSD means Solid State Drive. Both SSDs and HDDs (Hard Disk Drive) can be SATA. Your comparison is like saying two F150s and a RAM are either a pickup or a Ford.

I must have missed the part where I wrote that I was comparing them.

As you probably know in the good old days before SATA was invented SCSI was the better drive over PATA, transfer rates were like a greyhound out of trap one with SCSI.

I might be new to the forum but I go back as far as 3.1, I hope that enlightens everyone.

By saying all the drives are either SSD or SATA, you said that the SSDs were not SATA, which is not true. Also, you inferred that an optical drive could be SSD, which is also not true. You may know better but that is not how you said it.

Correctomudo, Wolf, In the days of kit computers, Commodore and Atari going head to head with Macintoshes, Small Computer System Interface was all that was available for kits and store-bought PCs.
One controller, you can daisy chain up to seven drives/devices but you had device ID numbers to set. When Integrated Drive Electronics came out they put a small subcontroller board on HDDs, as a means to get HDD prices down, as SCSI were pricey, then you needed Centronics for the printer port, but with IDE the restriction became no more than two chained per controller, then SATA was a return to the original SCSI, USB is also a part of it as we never really left SCSI since what came after were just variants.

fireberd your sata/scsi is probably coming for you chip set and bios.
For what ever reason it seem like your motherboard can handle both; what ever is plugged into the sata port. My Intel SSD's with my Asus motherboards don't show scsi.
I run from any ports that are under the control of Marvell.

This Gigabyte motherboard has a "Marvell 91xx 6GB controller (x2)" according to the Belarc Advisor. Nothing about "SCSI" in the Belarc Advisor.

It all works, just wondered why the two programs listed "SCSI". Must be something in the Gigabyte motherboard.

Jack this has always puzzled me too. On my 3770K system it indeed lists storage drives as SCSI in AS SSD and Speccy. On my 2550K system it doesn't, all are connected to the native Intel SATA ports.

@Bob, maybe I can help or be more confusing. SSD is a type of drive, SATA is a drive interface. No harm no foul.

Gary it is confusing but I don't think it's anything to worry about. I also use Intel sata ports.

My SSD is on an Intel SATA III port, one HDD is on a Marvel SATA III port, and the other HDD is on one my LSI HBA card's SATA II ports. All three show SCSI in Speccy. No worries.
