I have one of those too. It runs flawlessly since at least 2 years. Only little problem is to yank out the disk. That is a bit hard at times and needs a strong arm.

Yours does not have an eject button on the front? Mine does and if I push it too hard the hard drive will shoot all the way out and on the floor, if I can't catch it. So, I've learned to push it easily.

I have noticed that more and more USB sticks are supplied with plastic USB connectors, these do tend to break without much real effort, especially if you actually insert / extract a stick many times a day as is normal for a technician moving around many systems

they have copper strips akin to the edge connectors on PCi cards that slot into motherboards

And that is why you have to read the reviews, not just count stars or eggs. Take Amazon's Marketplace vendor reviews for example. Many of those reviews are actually product reviews so you have to read through them and look for patterns, such as the vendor frequently shipping the wrong item, takes longer to ship than promised, makes lame excuses for its mistakes, etc. I've shied away from many Marketplace vendors that had otherwise good reviews because a high percentage of the reviews were actually product reviews and a high percentage of the actual vendor reviews were less than stellar or showed a pattern of vendor incompetence, such as late shipments (actually, not all that big a problem unless one is on a schedule), shipping wrong items, poor packaging of shipments, blaming the customer for complaints, etc.

Very true. Unfortunately, I'm seeing a related issue on Newegg reviews---they often combine reviews of similar but distinct products into the same list.

Suppose you are researching 3 TB drives and locate one of possible interest and begin looking at the reviews--you'll see reviews of the 1 TB and 2 TB versions of the drive mixed in with the 3 TB reviews.

I think this is a relatively new development---at least I don't recall it from 2 or 3 years ago.

Not that you should place a lot of credence in Newegg reviews generally.
