Stuck with probably the rarest Win7 keyboard problem ever saw ...

Hi Hueyman. Are you able to get in & uninstall the TARGET software. I think it may have something to do with the problem.
If that does not fix it then I think you may have to reinstall Windows.

Doesn't this has something to do with Keyboard and mouse HID client drivers (Windows Drivers) ?

Any ways to hard reset HID devices in Win 7 ?

Last question : Is there any ways to restore Windows to a point that does not appear in the restore list ?

No mate anything on the machine will be wiped by a fresh install.

If you are going down this track then I would do this after backing up any data you need.

The devices that caused the trouble in the first place I would also replace.

After all, keyboard is a crucial peripheral.
I know it's probably too late and maybe it's been mentioned before, and it'll sound silly but - have you tried changing the keyboard layout in regional and language options?

No mate it doesn't sound silly at all take for example my Toshiba laptop that has the screen brightness the opposite way around to what I set it no matter what I do.

Guys, you won't believe what will follow ...

After half a day of re-installing all softwares and files I had backed up, and applying all Windows 7 updates ( 743 Mo of updates ), the keyboard stopped working again ...

This time, as soon as I did the fresh install, I gave a lot of disk space allocated for restore feature, so I restored prior to Windows 7 updates and it works fine.

There is definitely something really wrong with those updates, what should I do ? Why Microsoft isn't aware of such a problem ?

Well if you know what updates are causing this problem just system restore and the set updates to what I do as in pic and knowing what the update is when it is offered right click on it and click on "Hide" It will not appear again. Now this does of course mean you don't have tha update and I am not sure if it would be an important one - the alternative is to replace the keyboard etc

Hi dude !

Yes I already de-activated every updates for now ... I don't remember having " useful " Windows updates in my lifetime ahah ...

I have two keyboards here, the Logitech Illuminated Keyboard and the Wired 600 by Microsoft, exact same result...

There's nothing to understand, even Microsoft themselves didn't know anything about this when I had them via phone

Yes I did re-install, and it worked fine until I applied all Windows Updates.

Don't worry guys, all works flawlessly together now, I'll just ,ever touch those updates again and I'll be ok ... strange isn't it ?

Did you ever find out which update was causing this problem? Or a solution that doesn't involve reinstalling windows or going back to a system restore point? I'm having the EXACT same problem. It is maddening. I'm 100% sure that this is caused by one of the Windows updates and there is nothing physically wrong with my keyboard or computer.

Hello Borga,

Sorry, I never knew what was really happenning ... after re-installing Windows from scratch, all worked OK, then after applying all the updates, same problem started again... I had to re-install it a second time but this time I did uncheck autoupdate and declined all update request... sad to come to this point to be able to " use a keyboard ", the most common operation of using a Personal Computer...

So no idea no... if the problem occur to many people, maybe we could all make it noticeable for Microsoft to investigate ...

Yes mate I always set the updates to let me know and then choose what to download / install because you do - or I do get stuff coming through in updates I don't really want or need.
