I'll be glad when they get all these bugs out. It's taking so long, I'm losing confidence in MBAM. I'm still using 1.75.0.1300 but I'm wondering how long I can safely do that.

Here is how to test if malwarebytes anti-exploit is working properly:

With it enabled it did block it. Here is the scary thing, I tried the following antivirus products in vms:

-Avast
-Kaspersky
-panda
-antivir
-avg

None of them detected the exploit happening. That is bad. I reported it to the vendors, and it will be intresting to recieve there responses.

You can add Norton Internet Security to the list too. MBAE did block the exploit though, but maybe they have crafted the test to work that way for their own satisfaction.

And lady, I finally upgraded to the new malwarebytes version. It is now working pretty well. Definitely heavier on resources however. It added a few good seconds to my startup time. I then changed the setting to have it delay on startup within malwarebytes and everything is fine now.

Hmm interesting as my Kaspersky has missed a couple of trojan just lately that MBAM has not picked up.
All in all MBAM (and I can only assume) is not as good as it usd to be and I am sure is slowing my mian machine down quite bit.

John you can test it by using their tool to uninstall it. I have found MBAM to be doing more, one thing is it's blocking dangerous websites which Norton missed.

I would expect then to roll MBAE into MBAM, it's certainly not worth paying for.

I have zero issues with the latest MBAM personally now. I will have to see if I have to update to the next version via the Admin account, but the protection and scans have no issue. No slowness, no crashes, etc. A Guy

Ok Gary I'll give that a whirl on my days off as it is simple enough to do.

Those Trojans I mentioned were actually picked up by the Emsisoft I think it was you mentioned somwhere before.

I'm not sure if it's a valid test as mbae-test.exe is a digitally signed file with a valid signature. Surely most exploits work by detecting vulnerable browser plug-ins to launch a script or (unsigned) executable?

I could be wrong but that's my take on it!

Potentially it is malware! That's the whole point of the test. It simulates a technique that's used by some malware to go undetected.

Exactly. You can usually spot fake warnings by the language used. Not that I'm denying the usefulness of anti-malware programs, but the wording adopted by malware usually gives a good pointer as well.

Out of the known issues reported the only one I've noticed is of course successful update notifications non existence,
But that would make sense because mbam only self updates if set to Real time,
Hourly does not self update/ daily does not update,
Such a simple task to self update on starting with windows is lost some where in the 2.0.... version and a following confirmation popup stating as much ?

I use Hourly updates, every 2-4 hours, and no problems here.

Have you tried a fresh Mbam install after following the clean removal instructions?

I have mine set to Repeats on constant intervals. Since it is a real time active protection, I want the most up to date definitions. I can check manually anytime, and it says no updates available, so I assume it is working

MBAM BSOD resolved

The current (non beta) version seems to be MBAM 2.0.1.1004 or at least that's the one that appears on the MBAM website. It's also the version that gets downloaded by UVK if no other versions are installed - otherwise it uses the currently installed version.

It still makes use of the swissarmy.sys driver that is also present in the beta releases and seems to cause BSOD's on my machine. If I stick with MBAM 1.75 it doesn't use that driver and works just fine.

So I just installed Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free v2.0.2.1012 after giving up on resolving the BSOD issues that I was experiencing with every release since 1.75 and finally it actually works!

I'm guessing a little here but I reckon that the problem might have been related to a permissions and replicating appdata folder issue that I fixed some weeks ago but existed at the time of the above post.
