Hi there,

I have Office 2010 installed on my windows 7 home premium laptop and every time I start my computer or even just login from standby, outlook automatically launches. I have gone through both the startup and services msconfig lists and anything related to outlook or office is unchecked. I have checked the start up folder in the start menu and neither outlook nor office is listed. I have gone through my services list and did not find anything in there related to office or outlook to change settings for. I cannot find any settings within outlook's options either. I do not want outlook to auto-launch on it's own whenever I open my laptop or boot it up. What ca I do to prevent it from automatically starting?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Yes I have, but didn't see anything I could identify as belonging to office or outlook.

Do you have a keyboard shortcut to launch Outlook? Check that the keys are not stuck or used for something else
Try another user account on the computer (create one if you have to)
Any other problems with the computer at all? Redirected home page/search engine (even if you have fixed these), pop ups?

No, no shortcut key for outlook. I have one other thing going weird with the laptop atm and have posted a thread on that issue as they don't seem like they would be related, but just in case here is the link to that thread http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/334947-synaptics-touchpad-driver-keeps-breaking.html
I tried making another account and outlook does not launch in that account, so I am stumped.

Launch and configure outlook in the new account then reboot and log into the new account. Still not launching at log in?

Errr...use a 3rd party program, that requires no installation, to discover what is causing your issue? After which you can delete Autoruns (made by Windows Sysinternals, and the highly regarded Mark Russinovich and Bryce Cogswell). OK, why I could not fathom, but it's your choice. A Guy

An Observation....

I had this exact same problem with Outlook 2010 and a brand new computer running Win 7 64 bit pro.

I simply set up Outlook with a dummy email account (as I don't use Outlook), and then the set up on start up no longer appeared at system starts (or restarts).

Deleted the dummy account a few days later, and the problem did NOT come back.

Hope this helps!:)
