Recently I reformatted my HD and clean install win 7 ultimate 32 bit on my computer, bcuz of some problems when booting up, took like forever to boot or 2 to 3 restarts..At first BIOS cant detect my HD so I taught its a hardware issue I did like changing the sata cable also took it to a technician TWICE! maybe the sata port was broken they check all the connection, the last one did fix it but im still having difficulty booting up..He said one last option reformat, so i did reformat it successfully from win xp, now it boots up just fine its running good no problem for like a week yeah just 1 week!. Now my pc has new problem or is it?? Whenever I used it 2 to 3 hours my pc hangs so much even just opening event viewer would take me 5 to 10 mins and 2 errors always flood event viewer the first time i saw it disk error reach 5231 and nvistor32 reach 5366 errors, right now as I am writing this, Disk error reach a waaping 23,145 total. I think this is a serious problem that needs some fixing....

Questions:
1..Is my HD failing??My pc is fairly new about 1.5 years old. I dont think its the hard drive, if so then why those two errors are always together i know nvistor32 is from Nvidia for the SATA right?...

2..Am I just having sooo much badluck that that the 1st problem i had before reformatting it has nothing to do with this (completely new) problems??

please any help is greatly appreciated..Its driving me crazy and almost goes to the point of throwing it outside yikes!!:D

The first thing to do is go to the Samsung website and download the hard drive diagnostic tool for your hard drive and run it.

Post back what you get for results.

Seagate owns samsung Hard drives now. But, try this, click on samsung and select the ES Tool. But, to answer your question, yes Seatools does a pretty good job.

It is best to test hard disks outside of the operating system IMO.

Go here:
Seatools for DOS tutorial
and download the Seatools for DOS for bootable CD. Burn the ISO as instructed, and use that to test the drive.

Direct to ISO download:
SeaTools for DOS | Seagate

Hello Kaktussoft,

I've been seeing the "Windows has stopped working" error message appear shortly after I started Windows and ran appwiz.cpl, and at random while I was logged in. I reviewed the Event Viewer logs and noticed that a controller error was reported less than a minute after the Explorer crash occurred. The last log entry is dated yesterday afternoon and said "The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk1\DR4". Concerned about the state of my computer's HD, I burned a SeaTools for DOS image to a CD, rebooted, and ran the program. No errors were reported after running the long and short disk tests. After rebooting I didn't see another controller error entry, although Windows Explorer again crashed when I ran appwiz.cpl.

Attached is a compressed screen shot file of my disk management configuration. You can see that there are two external hard disks connected to the system, in addition to the internal hard disk.
