hi guys,

I am experiencing very random odd "you are not connected to any network" while I am browsing, for instance I will check the taskbar and the Ethernet connection icon appears with the red X, after a few seconds it will reconnect automatically and everything works back again. This happens completely random, just happened 10 minutes ago, cable was not being bent, laptop was on a flat surface, etc.

Things I have tried:

- Brand New Ethernet cable (the one I am using now)
- Checked Ethernet socket of my laptop, tried to bend back the contacts, which seem OK

I cannot figure out if it's a problem of the router or is simply the Ethernet connector's internal wires that are simply too flat and sometimes doing a "false" contact, next step I am thinking to get one of these cheap USB to Ethernet Jacks from Ebay > USB 3.0 to Ethernet Adapter RJ45 1000Mbps LAN Gigabit Network Portable Card | eBay - since it's a laptop is much easier that way than replacing motherboard or re-soldering a new Ethernet port!

ON a side note..... same thing happened with my other laptop just the other day with another cable as well....

I'm thinking it could be the router instead!

any ideas?

thanks
Gabrio

...two things you can check... look at the power management tab of the NIC, uncheck the box to allow the computer to turn off the device to save power. second... you can reset the modem then restart the laptop while attached to the modem...
