Motherboard P8Z77-M Here is the situation...My laptop gets excellent speeds between 100-115 down and about 20 up....My desk top gets anywhere from 55-61 down to about 18 up...When the technician is here the desktop runs at the speeds its supposed to and as soon as he leaves the speed drops back down....I have been researching this for days and nothing seems to help...Mostly the problem is not exactly like mine or not close.....I sure could use some help... I'm running windows 7 pro with 8 gigs of ram....If you need any other specs I will be glad to post them

I would check to make sure your motherboard has the correct chipset drivers installed and also make sure your ethernet controllers have up to date drivers installed for them.

I have tried all that...still nothing

But the speeds are fine till the tech walks out the door

If I may jump in...
Wondering if the Tech plugged in the problem computer directly to the Modem (if you have a separate one), as to why the speed was excellent similar to your laptop.

My desk top gets anywhere from 55-61 down to about 18 up...When the technician is here the desktop runs at the speeds its supposed to and as soon as he leaves the speed drops back down...

Is your laptop wired to the router? How about the desktop? Is the issue wireless or wired?

They are both wired to the modem
