I work in an area of multiple wifi routers
Wifi was working fine.....
All of a sudden my laptop(HP pavilion g6 2004tx) starts showing only one WIFI network....
Other networks are NOT visible....Although the other networks are visible in my phone and in UBUNTU 14.04(dual installation).

I use Ralink RT5390 802.11b/g/n network adapter...
Please help....

Hi Abhimahatu, welcome to the Seven Forums.

   Note
My response below is not meant to accuse the OP of anything. Instead, it is solely based on how I interpret the OP's post.

Reading between the lines, it seems that you are "borrowing" other people's WiFi without their knowledge. If that is the case, we cannot help you due the forum rules. We will not, we are not allowed to assist in breaking to other user's networks and computers.

The fact that your Ubuntu and mobile can see the networks makes it obvious that those WiFi networks are not set to be invisible. Reseting router or changing its frequency could solve the issue but for that you'd need access the router in question which I think is not possible for you.

Kari

I am sorry,I forgot to mention...I am actually an University student.....
The other wifi networks(that are near to my hostel room) were working fine, until there was a power outage on the whole campus.....after that most of the networks were not visible on my laptop.....

The culprit is often the router as I mentioned. One possible cause is that the router is set up to use Wi-Fi Protected Setup instead of Manual. See router's manual for changing this in Wireless Configuration. When done, set the frequency (channel) to Auto.
