Thank you.

I've found this post.
http://codeverge.com/mozilla.support.fi ... #replyForm

Seems to be the same problem.

Possible, but as that link is about versions of Fx and Tb that have both been obsolete for several years, I'd not pay any attention to it.

I can only suggest, again, that you find some relevant links using Google; else, you are unlikely to find any information that might prove useful.

Since updating to FF 32.0.2, 'WmiPrvSE.exe'' starts automatically on Firefox start-up.
Any idea how to fix it?

Win 7, 32-bit.

Thank you.

If you have CCleaner installed try clicking on Tools > Startup > Firefox tab > highlight WmiPRVSE.exe > click Disable button. Hopefully that will stop WmiPRVSE.exe from automatically starting. Also, Firefox has released 32.0.3 so perhaps updating to that will help.

Thank you marsmimar. I appreciate the detailed screenshot. :)

I do have CCleaner installed, but 'WmiPRVSE.exe' does *not* appear in Tools > Startup > Firefox tab.
Do YOU see it?

Anyway, according to the last replies in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1070123, this process *should* launch on FF start-up (FF 27 and up).
You need to check "Show processes from all users".

Please update.

Nope, I do not see WmiPRVSE.exe in any CCleaner tab. But I DO show two instances in Task Manger > Processes tab.

Thanks again. It's kind of you.

With your permission, one more request:
Could you please close FF, wait until the process(s) terminate (I only have one, maybe there's a difference between 32-bit to 64-bit), and then restart FF and check if they (or it) were relaunched on the browser start-up?

Process Log

I don't know if this helps but here's today's history of that process on my machine. (When it started and how long it ran for) - I'm using Cyberfox rather than Firefox and it has some differences concerning data collection. I wonder if that's the issue?

What's The Difference Between Cyberfox And Firefox?

Thank you Callender. I appreciate your help.

I just wanted to make sure that when WmiPRVSE.exe is *not* running and you start FF - the process is launched simultaneously with the browser.

Task Manager Screenshots

I don't have Firefox installed - I'm using Cyberfox (a Firefox variant and it's up to date)

Here's screenshots from Elevated Task Manager - processes sorted A-Z

Before launching Cyberfox (FF):

Windows Task Manager 1.jpg

After Launching Cyberfox:

Windows Task Manager 2.jpg

In other words - no change detected. There's no extra WmiPrvSE.exe and no increase in memory usage for the single instance that remains running.

Thanks again. I'm grateful.

BTW, Process Hacker is great. It has a Start Time column which can be very useful.
