I agree that appearance is not that important. If the program is stable and the settings include scheduled updates and scans one would very rarely see the UI except during on demand scans and if it finds an issue.

Unfortunately I have seen way to much of the UI and it hasn't been because it found an infection but it certainly has had issues.

Those with 1.x lifetime licenses will continue to be honored on the 2.x version. I do not have an exact end date for 1.x but at some point next year the current plan is to disable database updates. For paid users you will need to update to the 2.x version if you wish to continue to use the program. No different than most software - at some point most software reaches a point it is no longer supported.

The 2X does stumble now and again but then again it does a lot more and does it well in my opinion.

The last little stumble was upgrading to 2.0.3.1025. It was easy and quick to fix.
I fixed it on two computer is just a matter of a few minutes.

I believe 2.0 is getting better at updating on a Daily basis that is once a day is all I ever cared about,
Which I'm not sure why but I finally did get a new version 2.0.3.1025 when I noticed the new terms of usage :/
But it shows as todays update definitions and I didn't have to do it manually

I did switch to 60 second delay at startup but that was just dual boot prep

You all are taking your darned sweet time fixing it. I put SAS on the Ignore List for now. I'm not far from putting MBAM on my Ignore List and demanding a refund for my four licenses. And I'm not even using the buggy new version yet!

I don't agree. It's never been a problem before. I dislike having to put an anti-malware program or AV in an exclusion list since it's possible they could get infected (granted, it would be a remote chance). One of MBAM's claim to fame is its ability to play well with AVs and other anti-malware programs.

I believe it's the costs of relying on multiply security utilities
I exclude each from each others scans MSE/ MBAM/ SAS it's important when the pro/ premium services are used,
Each is a bit more aggressive but even with a free version I would exclude it from scanning another security utility,

When a utility tags or quarantines an item is it really necessary for another to tag the same item ;/

I do something that might be helpful for others.

Example:
When I scan with lets say SAS and it does find something. I check the log and then remove the problem found. Then if need be print the log but in all cases I delete the log.
That way when I use another program to scan it doesn't see the logs of the previous scan.

If the problem found is removed and the logs are removed to my way of thinking their is less chance of a false positive.

I have never had to change setting in security programs or firewall to allow other security program to work properly.

I use MSE, SAS and Malwarebytes Premium and they all play well together.
When I use other downloaded security programs like Eset On Line scanner I do not have to change any setting on my systems or security programs.
Windows 7 built in firewall is at default settings and I just let it do what it was designed to do.

I update and scan manually with all security programs. I do not like scheduling or auto updating anything. Other than that I just let my security run in the background and do what they are designed to do.
I works for me.

To all those new users.
When you update or scan with security programs manually you MUST remember to do just that.
I check for security updates several times a day. It doesn't take long because your updates are never far behind.

I don't think a log can cause a false positive. A file in quarantine though might.

One of the strengths of MBAM is zero-day threats but also what's called zero-hour threats. So I have automatic updates every 30 minutes.

If I had a program that would require whitelist/exclusion/ignore then I wouldn't use it. As simple as that IMO.

This last incident is an example of why excluding another trusted real time protection security program is worth doing,
Of which I only have three trusted programs when that trust is in doubt why have it at all,
Mbam has in the past created a little doubt in it's abilities to be consistent
Exclusions are needed and auto quarantine is a luxury of the past as well,

Well we can't agree about everything I'm with Lady Fitzgerald on this one. I want each AV-like program to check the others. You shouldn't trust any program to 100%, not even security software.

I've been using MBAM real-time for many years now, with the "Pro" lifetime real-time license.
I got burned on their "notably worst FP" a few years ago that bricked many systems, myself included.

That's when I changed from the default hourly DB update, to 2 hours...
They said we have fixed the FP problem, it won't happen again ...
Well, there have been been FPs since then ... read the history.

I now have auto update set to 4 hours (or more) for my home PCs.
IMHO it's a crap-shoot, if the latest MBAM DB update will cause problems ...
The more often I get updates, the more likely I'll get hit with another FP.
The longer I wait for an update, the more likely a new malware might creep in somehow.
Personally I've had more problems with MBAM updates than I have with malware that MBAM should prevent...
Thus, the crap-shoot IMHO.

I recently learned "Don't Auto-Quarantine" for real-time really means wait 40 seconds and then auto quarantine ...
Wonderful, If I'm not sitting in front of the PC, it may get bricked in 40 seconds !

I've become the "family go-to guy" for PC help.
Most people I help are senior citizens, 65-90+ years old (me too )
Most of these folks only have 1 PC.
With the new subscription license, their cost would be ~25$ per year per PC for MBAM Premium.
Is it worth it anymore? not IMHO.

I wonder who will call me with a PC that won't work or has issues that I have to fix remotely for MBAM I recommended.

I certainly won't buy MBAM and give it away as a gift ever again for security concerned people I help that would not buy it themselves for whatever reason.

Marginalizing will catch up to them eventually,
People do read forums even mbam's so fyi if your going to be lock happy you might as well delete the locked threads to get rid of the bad p.r.

I completely agree with this sentiment. Its factual and based on documented experience by many users. The question is, will Malwarebytes sit up and take notice of the fact that their reputation, at least here, is somewhat tarnished, and going doing the drain with each update? I'm not so sure.
