Sorry just to clarify my post about the SSD, was not helpful. You will see a huge performance boost using a SSD for a boot drive and a HDD for storage. It would be a same to build a nice machine like yours and not feed it an SSD. I can honestly say anyone on this forum will recommend a SSD.

I have used a HDD for years, only recently i started to use a SSD and i am still mind blown personally i would lower my graphics card in order to bring a solid state drive into my budget.

In terms on AMD vs Intel, they both have pro's and con's its the same argument as Nivida vs AMD. People will back both sides.

Oh and sorry for the spelling i had a Jack Daniels night and still have not sobered up.

SSDs are cheap now. You could EASILY get away with a 60GB SSD for boot and a 1 TB HDD for storage. OR you can just get the 1 TB HDD and put windows on that and maybe a few games and programs. when budget allows, you can delete all the games, and clone your HDD to the SSD reconfigure windows, and than format the 1TB HDD and then set it up as storage. i have a 120GB SSD and have ALL of my pics, music and programs on it and still have 70+ GB left.

Not to mention most games don't benefit much from the hard drive speed in general. Maybe loading folders on the fly for games like GTA/Skyrim but other than that I rarely even put games on my SSD.

If one can afford a 780 or 980 I'm thinking the price difference between a AMD and Intel cpu shouldn't be a problem.

All of my games run off WD Caviar Blacks, all I have on my SSD is my OS, Adobe CS2, F-Secure and Office. SSDs are nice and it's great to have the OS up and running in seconds, but there's no way a gaming rig should sacrifice anything on the GPU to accommodate an SSD.

As Jack has said though with the OP's budget he should easily be able to fit a 120GB SSD into that build.

Plus, an SSD will not make games run any faster. What it will do is make them load faster. I have my games on 2 Samsung 256 GB SSDs in Raid 0. They load much quicker, but the game play is no different than when I ran them from a mechanical hard drive. SSDs are great and I wouldn't have a computer without one. Maybe that's why I have 8 of them. But they are spread among 5 Computers. But, for a gaming computer, a better Graphics card is always better. An SSD will not make your games run any better, a better graphics card will make them run much better, faster and smoother.

I think the build looks OK, but I do agree with the SSD and I would go for the AX or HX 750 (760 is the newer model if that matters to you.)...

I would stay away from the 760s; I've seen a lot of reports of the Corsair Link hardware and software on the 760s being temperamental at best. I would also recommend the AX over the HX because it is fully modular (all the cables can be disconnected at the PSU) which will make replacing the PSU much easier than if one has to replace it at a later date. The Corsair AX750 is an excellent PSU (it's the one I chose for my new case) and has a seven year warranty (just make sure you don't remove any of the labels to avoid voiding the warranty). The PSU is one of the most important components in a computer. A cheap one is far more likely to fail and destroy your MOBO, CPU, HDDs, etc. in the process.

Ok, Senioritis strikes yet again. The AX760s are the good ones. It's the AX760i that is having the problems and should be avoided. The AX series is still better than HX, however. Sorry for the confusion!

That is the exact same PSU as the Corsair AX760 (that particular Corsair is actually a rebadged Seasonic). Just get the one that is cheapest (I got my AX760 on sale).

The semi-modular doesn't bother me with the HX850-80 as the one cable that's not removable is the one I'm always going to need and that will always run the same way. OK if that cable dies I have to replace the whole unit but that's very, very unlikely. The HX850-80's fan only runs when required as standard so I don't mind missing the switch either.

Hi i'm trying to build a custom PC for the very first time, and I need your guys opinion about it. The price range is 1200Euros the PC is ment for Gaming mostly.

The components are:

i7-4790k

MB LGA1150 B85 Gigabyte G1.Sniper B5

I have the Gigabyte G1 Sniper 5.

Anyway if you get that board (B85 Gigabyte G1.Sniper B5), make sure it has the correct BIOS to accommodate the i7-4790K processor. For the Sniper 5, it's F9. For that board it should be at least F6, depending on the revision - GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1150 - G1.Sniper B5 (rev. 1.x). If it's rev 1.2 you should be safe. Remember these boards came out before the 4790 processors so check the BIOS, especially if it's rev 1.x.
