Solved Primary IDE Slave Not Detected Windows 7 Ultimate

Hello guys,
This is my first thread here, and my english is not that good also, so excuse me for any mistakes
I have my Prestigio for a 5 years and there were no problems. But today when i started the PC, a error occured.
On starting screen there was written: "Primary IDE Slave: Not Detected" and after a few seconds my screen went black and "reboot and select proper Boot device or insert boot media into selected boot device and press a key" message appeared.
So i thought that i will just need to put my Win 7 CD to the CD-ROM, but then i found out i lost it while we were moving.
Is there any way to solve this problem? Is there any way to boot Win from USB?

Hello Kiko28!

Five years for a hard drive is a long time. The error you are receiving is most probably because of a hardware issue. The drive is old and is very possible that it has died.
You could power off the PC, open the case and check the wiring of the drive. It needs to have a wide IDE/power cable, check if it's correctly connected.
Check in BIOS, do you see the drive?
From what I'm hearing, it sounds to me like the drive may really be gone.

Hello CKWD,

I opened up the PC,IDE cable is connected right. BIOS is also saying "Primary IDE Slave: Not Detected". SATA 1 and SATA 2 are also not detected.(I dont know if information about SATA helps you solve my problem)
Does that mean HDD is gone?

Do you have any other storage devices to connect to the SATA ports or to the other IDE ports?
If it is saying that the Primary IDE slave is not detected, you should also have another IDE HDD that's set to Master?

If you have a Windows 7 disk, you should be able to use it to recover your Master boot record, if by any chance that is the problem. Youc an do that by firstly changing the boot order in BIOS to CD/DVD being first to boots.

My other suggestion would be to get an IDE to SATA adaptor and connect your drive with it.

Please provide information about any other hard drives you may have and details on them!

Hello there!

That really is a hardware issue, i would suggest you try to re-seat everything on your MOBO, your hardware needs a little air for 5 years of service . Also try replacing your IDE cable, and if in any case that will work. Back-up your files on that HDD, and try not to use it again.

Hello again!

My Primary IDE Master is set to ATAPI CD-ROM (TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-222).As I said in my first post, I DONT have Win 7 disk. Would it help if i just borrow Win 7 disk from my friend, put it into CD-ROM and repair it using official software?
Also it looks like I dont have SATA disks connected(SATA 1 and SATA 2 Not Detected in BIOS).But as I looked into motherboard now, i saw SATA 1 cable connected to my HDD. SATA 2 port is free.
And what exactly is IDE to SATA adaptor?
My HDD is 500GB Maxtor Diamond Max STM3500320AS

Just re-seated everything on MOBO, nothing happened. HDD is backuped already, but I just simply cant get the new IDE cabel now.

EDIT: Just made a bootable USB using some porgrams and I successfully started Windows, but now when I boot my PC I am greeted with the Windows Boot Manager telling me

File: /Boot/BCD
Status: 0xc0000098
Info: The Windows Boot Configuration Data file does not contain a valid OS entry.
Can you help me once again?

EDIT2:I got into system repair with burnt official recovery DVD from my friend notebook, so I let Windows check for cases why PC couldnt start.
I quote windows now: "Root case found... A hard disk could not be found. If a hard disk is installed, it is not responding"
So its gone...

I am sorry for the late answer and I'm sorry to hear that the drive is really gone.
Five years is a long time for a HDD to live so it's done it's purpose. I hope you get a new one soon and don't have any problems.
