Random BSOD while surfing, gaming or idling

hi Arc, tks for dropping in.

i won't be able to test the 4 DiMMs i had as the RMA process will take 1-2mths @_@

i did run some tests on the loaned DiMMs and they work fine. but the BSoD still occurred (twice) and the dump is attached. i suspect it could be a CPU cooling related matter as my CPU heatsink was detached from the CPU and i only fixed it back but without the necessary contact glue.

your advice would be appreciated. i'll be trying to get the glue back in but daughter's been sick so pretty hectic week.

The first thing to do is get the heatsink properly seated with new thermal paste - be sure to clean off the older paste properly with an alcohol rub.

The eeventlog also indicates a problem with the ethernet adapter (specifically the cable?), so I think its best to get the hardware completely fixed first, before progressing to troubleshooting software an drivers.

wrt the ethernet adapter, you are not referring to the wifi adapter right? i'm currently using a NetGear A6200 wifi adapter and connecting it to the rear USB port via an extension cable and frequently, after BSoDs the OS doesn't recognise the adapter and i would have to unplug and plug back in the adapter for it to get recognised and sometimes after multiple tries.

i suppose that USB extension cable has to go too?

if you're not referring to the wifi adapter's USB extension cable, then i'm not sure what you're referring to as the ethernet interface is built into the motherboard.

ah, i've been having that problem for a long time and those options or messages are thrown up when i do trouble-shooting on the lack of an internet connection.

i'll unplug the LAN cable (connected to a TP-Link HomePlug adapter) and switch to another USB extension cable to see if it helps. my desktop PC's location is terrible for wifi reception.

Hi G & Arc, i replaced my thermal paste and also am using a LAN cable for my internet connection via a HomePlug technology. frequency of BSoD has reduced significantly but still get 1-2 occasionally since all the remedies have been done, in the past 1-2wks.

Kindly see attached dump and advise if anything else can be done to further stabilise my PC.

Dont overclock a crashing system.

As you are getting BSODs, you should stop overclocking and run all the hardware components like CPU, GPU and RAM to their default settings. Also set the BIOS to default, too.

You have some doubts about the temps. Let us see? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy. Alternatively, you can publish a Speccy snapshot too: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/311593-speccy-publish-snapshot-your-system-specs.html .

Also, what action have you taken for the RAM issue? Let us know.

hi Arc, noted on the overclocking and will look at my BIOS on this issue. will send Speccy details later after I install it.

wrt RAM, the original pieces were sent for RMA and currently running on temporary-loaned ones from the service centre. had done Memtest on them both and they were function properly as well.
