Don't know what system your using but 20 gig should be enough for the op system but won't leave any thing for programs. If you let us know more about what you trying to do and fill out your system specs you may get more responses.

Yeah,I guess I won't install a lot of programs, maybe not even photoshop,so programs shouldn't take too much space.

There is little need to worry about running out of disc space in a year or so, consider the fact that you'll likely have upgraded your hard drive by that time. ;)

I do not think Windows 7 will ever make it to Service Pack 2 or 3 honestly, its stable and fast as it is. Maybe Service Pack 1 (that is a bit maybe).

Since then 20gb will be enough...
The 8.6 gb size surprised me when I disabled pagefile, etc.
Normally how large will a SP be after install?(not the setup.exe) 1.5 gb?

Well I'm on Vista Ultimate (64-bit) SP2 at the moment, and its used 20gb of my partition so far. Its for the most part a brand new install (aside from a hundred MB worth of updates)

If that helps. =P

Would also depend if you keep the service pack rollback stuff which allows you to uninstall. That is what takes all the space.

That depends on what programs you are running..For most it should be enough, but if you run into a situation where the memory usage exceeds available ram and you have no pagefile enabled, get ready for a system crash.. do yourself a favor and enable pagefile, thats what its there fore... ;)

I doubt you really need to worry about space for any SP. SP3 or 4 will more than likely be some 5 years from now. By which time we'l all be hankering after Windows 8 leaks!

So let me get this right, You want someone to use a crystal ball and look into the future and tell you what the size of windows 7 sp3 is going to be.... no problem ...
