Hello all. I need some more space and I have a extra 1tb external hd. I want to turn my usb 3.0 external into a sata internal. Will this be the same performance as a regular internal drive with same specs(like if both are 7200rpm). Isn't it the same thing? Or external not made to be as good as internal drives?

Well I need storage, and I have 3 external 1 tb hard drives. Instead of buying a new internal, I wanted to turn on of the external into internal. It won't affect performance and will behave as if a regular internal right? That is all I was curios about....

Yes, it will function the same as an internal.

You should always fill up your pc with hard drives before resorting to an external.

Take it apart, install it in the pc, format it if it asks and use it however you want.

One more question, since your name is "Addram". Can I use two different types of ram, meaning if I have a 1x8gb at 1866 and a 1x4gb at 1333. My motherboard can handle all, but would it affect performance if I used tow different types like that. I have a older stick that I was wondering if I could add until I get a new one.

They will run at the slower speed, no need to add that 4 GB stick to an 8 GB stick at 1866.

Not worth it.

No reason to add memory if the system won`t use it, and if you can`t afford the same speed.

Yea, currently 8gb is more than enough for what I do, especially with my gpu. I was just curious. Not going to add. Thanks!
