How do I get windows 7 to display 3840×2160 (4k)

I bought a new 55 inch 4k tv and have it connected to my computer via hdmi. The highest resolution windows 7 shows is 1920x1080. I went into the graphic card settings and that is also the highest resolution. My graphics card supports 4k and all the latest drivers were downloaded from there website. How do I change my resolution to 3840x2160?? This is my first post and Ive spent days researchin this problem. Thanks!!

I don't think it's the problem ,You need to manually change the res yourself the screen shot should show you where to go

I'll try after work thanks! I originally could not get the tv to display anything even after Installing drivers. So I deleted drivers reinstalled drivers and card and left vga monitor unplugged. The display on the tv came on thank God then I noticed it not at 4k. I'll try a few plugging and unplugging combos.

I bet that is one hell of a TV

Have you tried contacting AMD or the card maker by chance ?

Also are you trying to set the res for gaming purposes or just to get the extra clarity and megapixels

One more thing did right clicking screen resolution in windows help at all ?

It is a very nice tv. Had a good month at work so I bought myself a b-day present. Netflix and youtube is about the only places to watch 4k content. The Netflix app on the tv has 4k but only 1440p on the youtube app unless I use my computer. So basically I want to use youtube and a few other sites to watch 4k content. I will post some pictures tonight showing what my settings are. Right clicking and going to screen resolution only gives me a max resolution of 1920x or w/e 1080p is. No matter what settings I don't see a 3840x2160. I've played around in ccc and don't see any setting to custom display or anyway to raise the resolution. I even made sure the tv drivers were up to date. I have not called any manufactures yet as I figure they will say call Samsung or call radeon etc but that will be my next step. Is there a program that I can force a higher resolution? I will play around tonight and double check all settings and try your ideas. Thanks!!

Btw you also need to change the refresh rate. You have to set it to 30hz or below. You currently cannot run 4k content above 30hz without displayport or hdmi 2.0

Realistically i think it's the GPU Radeon or AMD cards can do higher res but manipulating it to do so is a pain in the butt

I think this is one of the reasons NVIDIA made it easier to do this with there DSR Dynamic Super Resolution

I am almost opting to tell you to switch GPU'S something like this will for sure give you what you need

This is a little more than you probably bargained for but this will do what you are trying to do with no HEADACHES what so ever

ZOTAC ZT-90301-10M GeForce GTX 960 2GB 128-Bit DDR5 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card - Newegg.com

Nvidia has made it where you can do 4K regardless and you can do all these settings yourself

I have the exact same problem. My card is a XFX 7790 1GB and it says on google search that its 4k compatible, I know it wont play 4k games, but would be good to get windows and youtube etc. in 4k. My TV is a Hisense LTDN42K680 which is 4K compatible.

Im getting max res of 1080p even with changing numerous options and the refresh rate down to 30hz or 24hz and no luck. Tried on both win 8.1 and win 10.

Any help appreciated!!

Same issue here resolved

Make sure you have HDMI 2.0 on both sides (PC and TV) with a high speed HDMI cable.
I had the same issue. One of my ports were HDMI v 1.4 which carries a max of 3840x2160@29FPS / 1920x1080@60FPS. Just ask the manufacturer firmware to upgrade the HDMI port of the TV to v2.0 and make sure you're graphics card is also updated.

Cheers
