MBAM 2.1.6.1022 is now available in general release both via the program's auto-updater and from the regular product download page.
This is the same build that was released to a small number of users last week.
If you are already running 2.1.6.1022, you do not need to update.

3 ways to upgrade:

1. You may wait for it to be offered to your system(s) via the auto-updater sometime over the next few days.
(Be sure you have the Update settings configured to check for both PROGRAM updates and database updates.)

2. Or you may download it from the product download page >>HERE<< to install over the top.

3. Or you may perform a clean upgrade, by following these steps: MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x

Yea I never got it through the update system still on 2.1.4.1018
As far as auto updating goes it stopped made a new task and 1 day in a row has updated

it's a tough task I suppose to auto update once a day :/

For all I know the update will work once and never again Recurrence 1 day

Yep worked for three weeks and stopped 2 days ago :/
Which also mean recover missed task also didn't work for 2 days

Alas, without an error code or error message, that's not enough data to provide any detailed advice.
There are many reasons for updating failures (same as with Windows or security apps or other software) -- corrupted MBAM install/upgrade, corrupted database, messed up MBAM settings, lots of accumulated log files, lots of items in quarantine, malware, software conflicts, system configurations, networking/internet access issues, untreated PUPs, etc. etc. etc.

You may wish to try a clean reinstall, as that process resolves many minor issues.
It is often the fastest way to get back up and running.
The "best practices" for this are explained here: MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x

If that doesn't resolve the issue, we'd be more than happy to assist you over at the MBAM support forum.
If you wish help with this, we would suggest that you please start a new post >>here<<.

MM, i hope Mbam recognizes your continued outstanding work with this stuff , your truly a God send. Yes, i know you are not affiliated with them which makes it even more impressive.

I heard a rumor that "Brink" only offers his helpers a poultry 250 K to start and i think thats just awful , i mean how can someone with a small family survive on such bus fare .


I bet Mbam would double that and i think your worth it , if i was you i would approach Mbam management and damand to be paid 650 K a year , i honestly think thats fair for a 20 hour work week , if you work a 40 hour work week well just double that amount as a starting figure .

Got 2.1.6.1022 going without issues. I did a manual download and installed over the top of earlier version.

Threat scanned 344,000 items in 3'54".

Looks good. I like the 8 stage progress bar you see on screen during a threat scan. I think that's new.

All settings were retained.

Is Version 2 at a stage now reliability-wise where it can definitely be recommended, or is it in practice if not in name still really to be regarded as in beta?

If a quick scan with Version 1.75 takes 15 minutes, how long will the equivalent scan take in Version 2?

Version 2 has been out of beta since March 2014.
So, yes, it is stable.

As far as scan times, there is no way to predict how long a scan will take on any given computer at any given time.
MBAM 2 has a more powerful, more complete scanning engine & other capabilities (such as anti-rootkit scanning) not available in version 1.
So it is perfectly normal for scans to take a bit longer; this is nothing to worry about.
With MBAM Premium, you can schedule your scan to run at a time when the computer is awake, but not being used for other tasks. (
TBH on a modern system with decent hardware, this is rarely, if ever, necessary.)
There are many, many factors that determine scan times. A few of them are listed here:

Size of disk
Disk type
Disk speed
Disk caching
CPU speed
Controller type and speed
Operating System version
Number of files (including temp files!)
Number of folders
Number of archived files such as zip, rar, sfx, etc. (if this is enabled)
Rootkit scan or not (if this is enabled)
PUM/PUP scans
Other security programs running at the same time that may potentially be monitoring all file accesses by any other process.
Drive integrity - if a drive is failing it can take a long time to ignore and bypass sectors on a disk or simply fail period and hang the scan.
Other ongoing disk I/O processes
System infection
MBAM database size

If you disable anti-rootkit and archive scanning that will shorten scan times, at the cost of reduced thoroughness.
You might also wish to set mutual exclusions between MBAM and your AV.

Thanks for the info. I appreciate that it has been officially out of beta since March 2014 but that isn't the same as being stable, and clearly a lot of users were unhappy with it at the time, and a lot like me were deterred from installing it throughout last year and were grateful for the extension of time for support for Version 1.75.

I also appreciate the additional info about scanning times, and recognise the difference between different systems and scan types. I was just after some hands-on experience from those using the new version on how it compares to the old one time-wise for them, as the original reports were that scan times were greatly increased.

Have those who were initially sceptical about the new version but have since embraced it found it to their liking, or is it still worthwhile delaying its installation especially as it still seems to be getting a lot of updates and fixes? I'm still very happy with the old version, and while I know the new one has additional bells and whistles it seems quite a major step to upgrade. I know it's getting closer to the time when I'll upgrade myself, but I'm not sure whether this is yet the time to do so, hence my interest in how those who have now done so are getting on!

I held out for 8 or 10 months and continued to use 1.75 due to a cluster of version 2 issues that were reported in the first few months.

I have not had any problems with version 2.xx, but I don't know how you could ever expect 100% assurance that you personally would not have problems--just as with any software. At some point, you take the chance--or not.

I do like the current interface and have no issues with the speed.

I'm not sure how long 1.75 will remain usable, but I think I've seen references to some date?

How come some of you still use the old version? Not convinced the new version is trouble free or more effective ?

Don't know why Mbam would bother coming out with a totally new version if it wasn't better than the old.

One difference is paid version 1 has (batch) command processing, so a person can schedule tasks, etc. as needed/wanted.

They have not yet added command processing in version 2, they say "it will be added in a future build", they have said that for over a year now.

I bought a lifetime license a while ago, my version is 2.1.6 1022
