That is the minimum amount of RAM that you can have for the 32bit version of Windows 7.
Windows 7 system requirements

You should consider getting 2GB RAM, it will run much better.

Wow! I didn't even know this existed Dave, very nice.......

Also, can I recommend to add this to the top of your thread in the System Information section?

Good suggestion, Done.

I ran Windows 7 upgrade advisor and it tells me I can install Windows 7 64 bit. However, when I attempt to install, immediately after 'Loading System files...' I get the message 'Attempting to load a 64 bit Operating System, but the CPU can only handle 32 Bit Operating Systems'. My computer is a Dell Latitude D620 Laptop. My hard drive is 80 gb with more than 50 gb free. It's currently running Win XP Pro. What I have done so far (based on reading in this forum) is: F2 during startup and enabled virtualization. In addition, I installed 4 gb ram. But it still won't install. Hopefully someone out there on this forum can help. I'm pretty low tech, so be patient. Andy

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to do something that I've seen before but I have no idea how it was done. I work in IT, and we have Windows 7 Professional SP1 installation disks. Some computers have x86, others are x64. I've seen it so that you can combine them into 1 big installation bundle where it prompts you to choose either x86 or x64 during the initial setup phase, much like it would ask you which version of Windows do you want to install and it lists out all of the available versions.

Does anyone know how to make this a reality? I've looked and looked and still no such luck.

Thanks!

I downloaded the iso from you forum site X17-24395 and burned to to a DVD. I am doing a clean install. When I start my PC with the media it makes it to the part where Windows is expanding the files and I get the following error:
Windows cannot install the required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070570

Hey
i have a question regarding the installation process. I am currently running the Windows 7 32-bit on my pc and it is compatible for the 64-bit version. The disk i used to install the 32-bit edition came in a box as part of a set with the 64-bit edition. i want to upgrade to the 64-bit edition so can i use the product key on the box for activating the 64-bit edition since there is only one product key and i have used it to activate the 32-bit edition already
