Here's how disgusted I've become: I'm seriously considering going back to Vista. It still has a year and a half of life in it. By then I'll be a Linux Ninja. And MS is not likely to put "Get Windows 10" on Vista. there aren't enough people using it. XP now, I wouldn't be surprised. I don't get it. They already have a virtual monopoly on operating systems. Isn't it enough?
I wouldn't go back to Vista, that's a bit of a step backwards.
I've decided that if one more of these 10 (or telemetry) updates gets reissued, then I'm turning off Windows Update completely. I'll check maybe once every 6 months. I've been using computers since Windows '95 and not had a single virus or been hacked (at least, not that I'm aware of), so I hardly think putting off a security update for 6 months is going to make a lot of difference.
I have various layers of security (Anti-virus, Firewall, Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware, SpywareBlaster, Cryptoprevent) so I'm sure my pc will be quite safe. And it's 6 months of not having to go check every update to see what's included.
Just getting bored of playing cat and mouse with these updates now. Didn't mind at first but it's getting annoying now.
Then when 2020 hits it looks like I'll be switching over to Linux Mint or Zorin. Cinnamon is looking the likely contender at the moment though.
