So I am trying to setup hot swap for some ~500GB Samsung SSD's so that I can use them to transfer files from a recording deck to a desktop at work. So far I have purchased and installed THIS 2x2.5" SATA drive Hot Swap Bay in the computer, I have it hooked up to SATA3 6Gb/sec connectors, and have AHCI enabled on the motherboard. What is happening now is when I pop in the SSD's the computer appears to recognize it and in the "Intel Rapid Storage Management" software they show up, but they don't show up in "Windows File Explorer". What is it that I need to do now?
Thanks in advance
Justin

Hi,
Looks like rapid storage is wanting you to setup Raid or something :/
Which I have no idea what that is
I also put a 2.5 350gb hdd in my other ez swap evo's second tray and got nothing so this is an interesting thread
I use primarily the single tray to sway ssd's with os's on them to dual boot which it works but can't or really haven't had the time to figure out what's Raid setup and can it be changed swapped with another or shared with another os :/

Hot Swap has to be enabled in the Bios or UEFI for each motherboard SATA port you want to hot swap from. Of course, as already mentioned, any drive you want to hot swap also needs to initialized and formatted first to give it a drive letter.

I cheated when I built my present computer and enabled all the SATA ports that were Hot Swap capable (the two Marvel ports were not). That has proven handy occasionally when fooling around inside the computer without having to shut down and restart multiple times.

I personally don't mind shutting down seems the safest way to swap out anyway
The odd thing I see is the only options in bios is raid/ intel rapid storage
I just haven't had the time to understand raid 0 from.... 10

I have two, internal hot swap bays in my rig: one 3.5" and one 2.5". I mostly use the 3.5" bays for plugging in my backup drives which are just internal type HDDs. Not having to shut down and restart the machine four to six times when updating my backups is really nice.
