It can't hurt, but my guess would be that it will also encounter an error.

You may well have something else going on.

Pound on Google for Diskpart I/O errors.

You may or may not have better luck with Partition Wizard.

I don't think you can do that if there are partitions on the disk.

If clean did not delete the partitions, you likely have to find another way to delete them.

I have never used the convert command, so for all I know, partition deletion is part of that command.

It should not matter if you use MBR or GPT if you have modern hardware and Windows 7. Either should be OK for a Windows 7 install.

But, as far as I know, if you want to convert, all partitions will be lost---which should be OK with you.

You were already told, you must choose Legacy in the bios and you must convert the disc to MBR, as you are using a conventional Windows 7 installer, if you wanted to boot in UEFI and a GPT drive, you would have to creta a UEFI Windows 7 installer. And if there is a secure boot option in the bios make sure it`s disabled.

I set it to legacy and converted to MBR.

This is what I get when I come to the screen "Where do you want to install Windows"

Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu.
