budget pc build 9 (gaming)

the fan controller isnt really necessary but it makes sure the pc stays at a good temp, when gaming i can set the fans higher and when doing casual work i can set them lower for less power consumption.
But i guess they're not needed

Use AMD cool & quiet for the cpu and set profiles for manual fan control in ATi Catalyst Control Center.

I have 2 profiles.

Desktop stuff the fan runs at 35% speed and in games it runs at 95% the card is overclocked and never goes over 50C under full load.

alright, thanks for the quick replies, sorry for my late reply. Just went out.

Fluffy: I never knew there was a way to manually control the fans in the actual ati program and stuff, thanks a lot for the info. but still the controller adds some bling :p

Technoman: I dont think ill be able to afford a ssd no matter how much i save as id rather just get a good graphics card and processor

ratman: of course the monitor and keyboard+mouse aren't in the $700 limit :D I might as well use pen and paper for all the power i would get out of a $400 computer

stormy13: thanks for that, ill be sure to read up

ive decided to switch to this psu and think it should definitely be adequate, i've read nothing but good reviews on this product, it runs quietly, is modular, looks amazing, is extremely sturdy and with the price I'm getting it for ($69.99) i think its the one :D

Yes, it is good. A 650 watt psu will be adequate for now, but in the future if you go into extra fans/water cooling or crossfire graphics cards then you will need more watts.

Tigerdirect is VERY expensive for international orders. If you checked your shipping cost by going to your cart and typing in a post code, it will give you a domestic cost (in America), not the International Plane cost. You can try this by typing in any zip code in the box, 66, 666, 6666, 66666, 66666, they will all return similar results.

To get an accurate International shipping cost, you must first put everything in your cast, then go to proceed to checkout. Fill in billing information and shipping information and then a box below called shipping method will appear with the estimated shipping price. This is usually around $400-$500!

I was just looking around and finalizing my shopping item when i realized how crappy tigerdirect is for international shipping.
I assumed the cost shown was international cost, but i always was curious as to how they could do ground deliveries overseas :D. This prompted me to do some more research and i found that for my order of $1132 costs a whopping $600 for shipping!! I don't think I'll be buying from tigerdirect any time soon

So has anyone got any good online shops with low prices shipping costs to Australia?
Or any real shops with low prices in Perth

Firstly, sorry but I have to say, I told you so. $20 to ship Internationally for 30kg worth of things in 2-5 days never seemed possible to me.

Secondly, I've looked into a number of shops, both online and stores, and it actually seems that it's cheaper to just get things in store. In terms of Australian online PC shopping, your only option is really PCCaseGear. However, their shipping would still cost $100, enough to get an SSD.

So it's better to just buy parts from local stores. Generally, their prices are just as good as PCCaseGear. Check out MSY, PLE, Netplus and Austin Computers, all of which are located in Perth and have very good value parts. You can check their online stores for the prices instore as well and you can also check stock.

Netplus has very cheap parts, and were very helpful to me when buying parts from them. I would highly recommend them!

Seeing as I'm going to India in a few days i think ill buy most of my parts from there, but the parts will be cheap or crappy you might say, well im going to Bangalore which is currently on of the major IT hubs of the world. The parts there are definitely cheaper (going as low as half the cost in AUS) and the most recent parts should be available, to be specific, the AMD Radeon 6850.
I'll check the prices and availability over there and if I like what i see, I'll buy my parts from Bangalore and bring them back to AUS to build the pc

Looking at the prices from there, and the fact that you can't pick parts up from a "store", it doesn't seem that great. Especially when you have stores like msy.com.au, austin.net.au and ple.com.au that are very competitive and have stores that are literally a kilometre away from one another.

You might want to get region-specific parts from Australia to save yourself the hassle of changing regions.

OK,I'll have a look at those shops but do any of them have an order in option? (if they don't have the item you want, not because they are out of stock but because they usually don't carry it, they order it in for you)

Or alternatively, do any of these stores have a large range of item that i can get anything i want from?

No, it means the PSU will not be under strain and should last longer, it should run cooler and it provides extra room for future upgrades, as Bongo stated.
