It's cold here and we've had hail, the kind that turns to mush on the car and the back door. Thank goodness for central heating and a more than half full tank of oil to run it.

Oh ye be lucky, in Finland there is always snow and cold weather, like a week ago around -25 Celsius.. Right now around -13, next tuesday it might hit -17..

No garage here it just has to sit outside on the drive and this is in a coastal location.

Oh I'm so glad you got it fixed you don't want broken heating at this time of year, we had this a couple of years ago when it was bitterly cold it made hubby ill.

I know that feeling, where we live the first 10 years was without heating, well apart from an open fire in the living room. What made matters worse was that it's not standard construction just concrete slabs for the outside walls and plaster board interior, so it was very cold wet and mouldy, single glazed windows as well.:shock:
Things are much better now since double glazing and central heating was installed.

I'll second that Keith, mind you when you think of what it was like when I grew up I've definitely gone nesh over the years.

Me too. I can remember ice on the inside of my bedroom window as a child. No double glazing or any insulation then and central heating was for posh people.

As a child I was sleeping under a slanted roof. In the winter I often had ice over my bed. Only the kitchen was heated and that was away from the bedroom.
