Hi
I've Dell Inspiron 1564, Windows 7 Ultimate and everything was working fine until I installed UXStyle Core Beta and a custom theme. Now my left and right arrow keys are scrolling within a row but at the end of a row of files/ folders in windows explorer but its not going on to next row with right arrow and previous row with left arrow. I checked scrolling between lines in MS Word and everything's fine there. I've even tried switching back to default windows theme.

Any help?

Seems like uninstalling UXStyle Core Beta and a custom theme would fix the problem.

I'll try uninstalling the theme and Uxstyle, but I'd really prefer a solution, if there is one that doesn't involve uninstalling them. I love customizing everything.

Yet another problem has emerged: when I double click open an image (in windows photo viewer) in last rows of a folder it opens the very first image in the folder. Also after I rename an image, it automatically selects another image along with the renamed one. I've performed a deep scan and fixed any virus(es) yet the problems remain.

Please help, what has happened to this forum!

Hello mate you say there is no restore point just where did you look and did you tick the box as in my pic and use the scan for affected programs this can be done in safe mode and probably better.

Another check I would do is this http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html < if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2

The up/down arrow keys do go to the previous or next row in Windows (file) Explorer.

I don't know if that's the way it's suppose to work, or i have the same problem as you.

I don't use arrow keys to select a row in Windows (file) Explorer.
I use my mouse to select the row (file/folder), and then double-click or right-click depending on what i want to do.

Then count me in, I have the same problem.
Seriously, mine work the same way, but Dave, if you look at the highlighted Folder while going left, going right, I can see a separation line in the blue, I believe it's lining up with the columns. frm can see it.

Same here.
Some users like using the keyboard for navigation, and some like their mouse, and some use a combination of the two. One explanation I like is; If your hands are closer to the keyboard use it, if closer to the mouse use the mouse, and the one's that are ambidextrous have the best of both worlds.

I'm left-handed but use the mouse as a righty, and there are times during repetitious actions that I use the mouse in my right and place my left hand under my right arm to hit some keys.

:focus:
I was leaning towards a Caret F7 problem, but frm only mentions it happens in Explorer and not globally. I tried F7 and my Explorer behaviour didn't change.

I agree, I see the same behavior.
I don't know what purpose that "column selection" serves, i never used it.

I was leaning towards a Caret F7 problem, but frm only mentions it happens in Explorer and not globally. I tried F7 and my Explorer behaviour didn't change.

1: I'm talking about switching between rows, not selecting them. And its nothing new, I used to do it before.
2: I also mentioned this later that when I'm double clicking open an image (in Windows Photo Viewer) from bottom most rows (about 3) it opens the first image in the folder instead. This is happening in one disk drive only.
3. Once I rename an image in the folder (by F2) and hit Enter, another image is automatically selected simultaneously, thus window shows "2 objects selected".
4. I'm also hearing a brief chirping kind of sound (like one produced by old dialup modems when dialing) at bootup and when photo viewer is opening the other image (as mentioned in 2).

If i had those issues i would look in Event Viewer to see if there are any error messages that might help.

In the Start button / Search field, type in Event, and click on the Event Viewer program.

I had only one automatic system restore point dated before these problems occurred and I ran system restore from safe mode, and after it finished and logged on normally windows said something like "system restore wasn't successful, could not retrieve the file because it was corrupt or deleted during the restore".
