Hey,

Firstly my apologies for being a complete Noob with PC's and wordings used etc.

I would like to seperate the two hard drives so they act as seperate drives, please could you tell me how I do that or link me up to a guide for how to do it. I apologise if I'm being too vague here but not sure what other information I should share, lmk if there is anything else and will reply staightaway.

Thanks very much for any help.

Not clear what you want to 'seperate'.. Looks like you have 2 SSDs - one without a named partition.

Only the Samsung is a ssd thus why I don't want them acting as one drive. Maybe seperate is the wrong word ? I want to put the operating system onto the OCZ-VERT EX PLUS R2 SATA Disk Drive and then have the Samsung SSD Drive to install seperate files to, how would I do this please ? Sorry if I'm being a moron and this is very simple :)

Thank you whs, your use of the word Partition was enough for me to figure the rest out lol.

Will mark as solved once I've completed the task I'm attempting, thanks again.

If you have 2 drives connected when you install Windows, there is a chance that Windows will install stuff to both drives.

You don't want that because Windows wouldn't boot if one of the 2 drives failed or was disconnected.

If only 1 drive is connected, Windows has no choice but to install everything on that 1 connected drive.

It has nothing to do with capacity.

The only way to confirm this is to redo with 1 drive connected or to post a screen shot of Windows Disk Management so we can see if Windows in fact did install to 2 drives.

It may be easier just to reinstall if in doubt---with 1 drive connected.

I'm not positive because I don't know much about EFI systems, but I think you are OK.

Disk 1 appears to be the system drive and is also where C is. That should be OK.

What's on D? It has about 12 GB space used.

What's F? A USB flash drive? Not sure why it's marked "active".

Disconnect or remove all drives (internal, external, USB, whatever) other than disc 1--the 240 GB drive. Does the PC still boot with only the 240 connected?

The space took up on D is from installs I've put on there, it was empty after I reinstalled windows.

Yeah F was just a flash drive.

If I disable the drive here that would be suffice to then test if the PC boots off the 240gb drive yeah ?

I don't think that's going to work. Why don't you just disconnect e.g. the power of the drive.

If I understood correctly, I believe one can disable the 2nd physical hard-drive in Device Manager and restart; Windows should no longer see or use that disabled hard-drive; however, any externally booted dvd or usb with any sort of "looksee" can access the Windows' Device Manager-disabled hard-drive.

Yeah it was just I wasn't too keen on touching anything inside the tower since, as I've made very clear itt, I'm a noob with all this stuff :)

But I was brave and did it the way whs said and the OS loaded up fine so that's everything solved I believe, for now lol.

Thanks again for all your help everyone, really great site, tyty.
